A month.

It had been a month since we moved from my home town.

I stumbled through my room, and out to my bathroom. In nothing but underwear, I sleepily put on nothing but foundation and eyeliner.

My house was quiet. Mom always leaves early, she works at a new hospital as an X-Ray tech.

I pulled on the pair of dark denim shorts I had decided to wear today, along with a white tank top and a black zip up hoodie. I grabbed my keys as I brushed my teeth, spitting out the remainder of the tooth paste.

I grabbed my bag, along with a cup of hot coffee, before leaving my house. The walk to school was only about 20 minutes, and it was a cool morning. I ruffled my hair, a bit of a habit.

My earbuds blasted music, it was Arctic Monkeys cover of Hold On We're Goin' Home.

Humming quietly as I walked through the school doors, people continuously waved and smiled at me. Everyone was so nice and friendly.

I really liked it here.

"Kit!" Victoria's voice came from my right, and I watched as she gleefully jogged down the hall.

"Hey." I took out my earbuds, shoving them in my pocket. "Did you do your geometry homework?" She asked sheepishly. According to Grey, Victoria hardly ever remembered her homework.

I smirked, and nodded. "It's in my bag." "You're an angel!" She laughed, and began rummaging through my bag.

"So how was your weekend?" I asked, stopping to buy a bottle of water. "Busy. And stressful." She complained, and I heard her zip my bag up. "Damn. You gotta tell me about it at lunch." I nodded. "Will do. Thanks again Kit!" Victoria grinned, and ran towards her first block.

I shook my head, and walked up the stairs to my English class. I greeted my teacher before sitting down. "Hey Kit." Christian smiled tiredly. Grey simply nodded, acknowledging my existence.

"Where's Kota?" I asked. "Probably sleeping." Chris chuckled. He was right, because when I finally saw Dakota was at lunch.

He sat down next to me, and I laughed at him. His hair wasn't even combed, full of bed head. He had on a plaid shirt, that had only two buttons done.

"Sleep well?" Kyah giggled. "Fuck you." Dakota grumbled. I chewed my lip, deciding to help him. I buttoned his shirt up, and smoothed down his hair.

"Thanks Kit Kat." He winked. I rolled my eyes. Great, more nicknames. "Yeah yeah."

"I can't wait for this week to end." Grey mumbled next to me. "Why?" I asked him. "Christmas break." He smiled a little. Realization hit me like a ton of bricks. It didn't snow here.

"Did you forget?" Grey asked, nudging me. "Guess so." I mumbled. "Can I come hang out with you after school? I need help with all the crap I missed." Dakota elbowed me. "Sure. I don't have anything else to do." I shrugged. "Fun." He grinned.

After school, Dakota dragged me by the collar to his car. "Jesus Christ, Kota!" I grumbled as he pushed me down on the seat. I plugged my phone in the stereo, and went to my music.

I clicked on Kansas, and went to Carry On My Wayward Son. "I love this song!" Dakota yelled over the music.

I grinned at him, and sang along.

We played classic "mullet rock" music I had grown up with as we drove.

"I love Black Sabbath." Dakota sighed contently as he pulled into my driveway. "I feel you." I giggled.

Two hours later, Dakota was passed out on my couch, his long legs stretched out over my lap. Geometry and English books were thrown on the floor, and papers were all over.

I took a moment to stare at Dakota. He looked so innocent, his lips poked out in a slight pout, and his nose crinkled a little.

It was...adorable.

"Dakota... wake up." I gently squeezed his forearm. "No." He moaned, burying his face in the couch pillow.

"Wake up! You can stay for dinner." I sat down next to him, poking his chest. "Kit!" He laughed. "Then wake up! Come help me cook!" I smiled.

Dakota whined, and I pulled him up. "Come along." I smiled, and grabbed his hand. I pulled him to the kitchen, and pushed him against the counter.

"Watch the cooking master." I smirked. "Oh sure." He snickered. I started cooking some spagetti, and threatened to burn Kota with the water a few times.

"Oh, bite me!" I growled, to which he made a biting motion at me. "I hate you." I smiled, shaking my head.

"No you don't." Dakota grinned, and helped me drain the noodles. I heard the front door shut. "Hey honey, sorry I'm late." My mom walked in the kitchen, smiling. "Hi Ms. Langdon." Dakota waved.

"Oh! Hello Dakota." She grinned. They had only met once before, and my mom grilled me with questions. She gossips with her best friend Robyn too much.

"This looks good." My mom grabbed three plates from the cabinet. "Yeah, Kitty wishes." Dakota shot me a lopsided grin. My mom laughed.

"Thanks guys." I stuck my tongue out at them.

Dinner was filled with laughter, and Dakota kept teasing me, causing my mother to look at me as to say; "Were talking later."

"Tonight was fun, thank you Ms. Langdon." Dakota smiled. "Anytime, sweetie! Call me Kelly." Mom hugged him tightly.

"I'll walk you out." I smiled, and we walked to his car.

"Thanks for helping me, Kitty." He said, tossing his books in the backseat. "Yeah. You owe me a pop." I lightly punched his shoulder.

"How about somethin' else?" Dakota looked at me with mischevious eyes. "Like what?" I cocked my head to the side. "Close your eyes." He nodded. I did as told, and then I felt it.

I felt him press a sloppy, wet kiss on my cheek. My eyes shot open. All the breath in my lungs disappeared, and my face went bright red.

"Bye Kit-Kat." Dakota smiled warmly, before hopping in his car and driving away.

I remembered how to breathe when I saw his tail lights disappear.
