The tunnel was narrow, dark and damp. The amount of mold rant was on the wall had to be from excessive amounts of water, mostly from constant freezing and un freezing of ice and snow. I could feel the snowy blast of attic air, and hear the beating of a machine's engine as we inched further out the cave. Two guards had the end of their AK-47s on my back, and they nudged me when I slowed down. They put me ahead of the group in case anyone "attacked" us.
Red Skull was in the middle of the group, walking at a comfortable pace then he moved up besides me. I kept my focus ahead on the tunnel, and the light that came from the end. He leaned in and whispered in my ear, dangerously close for to snap his neck, but I held back.
"If anyone tries to arrest me or catch me, kill them."
I gave a small nod, then stepped into the arctic land. It was pitch dark, and the only source of light came from the jet's headlights. Red Skull motioned me into the jet then he shoved me onto the ground towards the back of the jet as he took his place in the first seat. The Hydra soldiers piled in, and the jet started to lift off the ground in rounds of jerks.
The jet soared over the ice as it headed west toward the ocean. I had no idea where we were headed, or why anyone would want to arrest Red Skull, not that I could blame them, but at least we were away from the ice. Ice only numb the outside, but not the inside.
A sharp buzz ran through my nerves. My body was still nothing the affects of shocking. The buzz caused my brain to aimlessly wandered to him. Because what if I was trying to complete the mission he failed to complete? I could pick up a faint scent of him on the seat, even though it has been years since he was killed. I couldn't make up my mind if I was upset because he left me by myself to be Hydra's only entertainment, or angry because I didn't get to kill bastard myself for giving me a scar. Either way, he was going to die by Hydra it by my hands. Unfortunately, Hydra got to him first. Lucky bastards.
"Alright listen up, maggots." Red Skull said as he passed around a bottle of rum.
A soldier took a chug of rum then handed it to me. I took a look at it and said, "Are you trying to get us drunk?"
"It's a Hydra tradition. Now chug." Red Skull growled then cleared his throat, "Now the mission is simple, unless you make it difficult. We are going to land on a private island in the Pacific Ocean, where the World Council will meet to discuss important matters, mostly about the Avengers, which works in our advantage. Then we are going to land, and everyone will head straight for the main gate. Expect for one."
The Hydra soldiers immediately glanced at me with a hideous smirk. I was mid-chug when I caught their stares, and lowered the bottle. I looked at them then turned back to the bottle. "Not surprising."
"Why Night? We don't know if she will follow orders."
"He's right there, I say let Jenson go for it." I said. Red Skull turned to me, and whispered a small word to a ear piece.
My brain felt like it was being pulled apart in all directions as well as melting and freezing at the same time. I grabbed my head as it was attempting to being ripped out of my school. My mind kept going from normal to savage, and my body was trying to catch up with the motions. What felt like a slash on the frontal lobe as a memory flashed across my vision. It was quick, but I managed to see a glimpse of it. A quick memory of the last thing I said to him, "Go cut off some heads...Wint." The first words I said to him since I first saw him.
The pain stopped, and I felt my heart racing. I took a deep breath then looked back up at them. "I'm there to make sure your asses aren't destroyed by men in tights. I'm a "use in case of emergency" soldier, unless you want some good number of barrels of blood."
The soldier beside me reached his hand out for the bottle. I slapped his hand away, snarling, "I'm not finished yet, Jenson!"
"Continuing on," Red Skull cut into the conversation, "Once we reach the main gate, we are going to disarm every security measures, including, cameras, motion sensors, and soldiers. Now, once we're inside the meeting, we will not harm any of the World Council members, otherwise my whole plan will be for nothing. Understood?"
The soldiers nodded, but I grunted in disgust then took another chug of vodka. I stared at the chipped red paint in the shape of a star. I immediately threw my glance to something else as I let my mind wander off for the first time.
I didn't want to comply to Hydra. It was always, "One for all and all for Hydra". No one had a choice in the mission, what they did, or who they killed. I didn't have a choice. When I was just created was even more uncontrollable than now, but after endless hours of torture, training, and "lessons" throughout the years, it was hard to think of anything else. I actually enjoy killing, which goes against everything I'm trying to be different from, but killing gives me an outlet. It lets me release all of my anger, even if I don't remember what happens when I turn. I don't feel remotely bad at all when I do kill though because I have no emotion. I'm not human.
Jenson attempted to grab the bottle again, and I let him buy when he took it back, the bottle had a quarter of vodka left. The soldiers looked at the bottle and sighed then shared what was left with the other ten soldiers.
After a while, the jet stared to lower itself out the sky towards he ground. Red Skull looked behind him to the pilot, and whispered something then turned back around. "Prepare for impact."
The soldiers didn't get a chance to prepare themselves before we hit the ground, and skidded across the ground until coming to a complete stop. The jet's doors opened, and the soldiers piled out of the jet. I slide out of the jet, and hit the hard ground. We backed away from the jet as it rolled into the jungle for cover. The soldiers started to head for the skyscraper that was a sleek black tile, where a ten foot electric fence wrapped around perimeter of the building. I stayed where I was, and Red Skull came up to me.
"Don't fail me now, Night. If anyone heads toward this building, take care of them." He ordered.
"Yes, sir." I replied with no emotion.
Red Skull patted me on the back, and headed to the fence. I looked over my shoulder at the strip of land before ur connected to the ocean. Although it was dark, I could hear the waves lapping onto the sand. I wanted to run into the ocean and trust my ability to swim, which was none since I've never seen the ocean. I looked back at the building then started to charge towards it. I ran past the soldiers as they called out my name, but I ignored them as I grabbed the fence, flinging myself over it. I landed on the other side of the fence without a shock or scratch.
My eyes caught the silver shine of a ladder that led to the roof. I stated past the guards, and placed my hands on the railings then began climbing upwards. As I got higher up the ladder, my chest began to tighten, but I kept going. I pulled myself onto the roof, where gravel bits scattered the roof. I took a deep breath, and made my way over to the edge and looked down. They were still trying to crack the security codes.
I couldn't help but notice the white flow over the land. I looked into the sky, and saw the big yellow circle along with white specks. The yellow circle took my breath away because I've never seen it before, but deep down inside I connected to it somehow. I decided that it was insane to connect to a object in the sky. I heard a small buzz, making me look down to the ground. The Hydra soldiers had finally managed to crack the security measures and open the gates, but just as a loud hum started to erupt into the air.
I straightened my posture, and watched it inch closer and closer. Red Skull's voice erupted into my head as he said, "This is your chance Night, my little weapon. Don't hold back."
I shut my eyes, and focused on myself. I felt my body elongate, and I lowered myself closer to the ground as I real see a growl from the back of my throat. I could smell everything and see in the dark. I could see the small plane heading this way. I stepped onto the edge and waited for my opponents to reach their doom.
