Chapter 10 (The Wedding)

I put in my cross plugs as I looked in my mirror. I stepped back and looked at my reflection. Blue lace dress with silver heels and my friendship bracelets I never took off. I also looked at my hair that was nicely curled ad laying on my back. This was extra fancy for me, but Chris did tell me to go all out. At that moment I heard the door bell ring, and went to answer it.

"Hey, Shay-" He cut himself off. "Damn girl you look fine."

I laughed. "You don't look bad yourself." That was an understatement. He looked fantastic. He had a button up shirt with dress pants and chuck Taylor converse. Too bad I couldn't wear mine.

"Anyway. So you ready?"

"Yeah. Hold up one minuet." I ran inside and grabbed my clutch bag and threw my phone and money in it and said bye to Ari and my mom. "Ready," I said as I walked out the door.

We went in the back of Paul's, Lauren's boyfriend, car. They started talking about school and shit, so Chris and I started talking about the wedding.

"Holy fuck. I'm nervous," I told him.

"About what?" He asked.

"The wedding. I mean I've never legit met your parents and your friends and extended family."

"It's fine they'll love you. You're kinda a badass, and I've never been friends with those kind of people, but you're also sweet."

"Thanks man. I just don't usually hang out with these kind of people either and you're like the only exception."

"Thanks. Anyway don't stress."

We reached the venue in about a half hour and it was at the beach, so it was hard for me to not run in the water of go to the skate park. The ceremony felt like hours probably because I've never met the bride or groom.

The bride looked like she was out of Cinderella, and the bride's maids looked like they were going to prom. The only thing traditional about the wedding was the groom.

During the year-long ceremony, Chris looked at me and gave me an expression that said sorry, but I smiled back. After what felt like hours, the ceremony was over and the reception started, which was also at the beach.

We were set at a table with Mrs. and Mr. Jauregui and Lauren and Paul at we were served out food.

"Hey, I'm Shay Hale," I told Mrs. and Mr. Jauregui.

"Hi Shay, I'm Clara," Mrs. Jauregui said back sweetly.

"I'm Mike," Mr. Jauregui said.

"Nice to meet you," I said back.

"You too. Chis talks about you all the time it's just-" She was cut off.

"Okay, mom we're gonna go right now see ya later," Chris said kissing his mom on the cheek and taking my hand and dragging me off. "Okay. That was embarrassing," he said once we were out of hearing reach.

I laughed. "It's cool. Your parents are sweet."

He laughed sarcastically. "They are, just also embarrassing."

"Aren't all parents."

"I guess so."

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"You get to meet my friends."

"Okay," I said nervously. Fuck. Why am I so nervous. I've never been nervous about meeting people. Maybe because theses kids are judgmental? I don't know. I usually just act like a badass bitch around people, and they laugh and think I'm hilarious. Anyway. Now wasn't the time to think about this, because I am just about to meet his friend's.
