Winters in New York were never the greatest, the streets deemed endless by the numerous stop lights and the poles strung up with tassels for the start of the holiday Christmas rounding the corner soon. The shallow light always illuminating a small circle in the sidewalks and apart of the busy road.
The soft snow shone under the pale, and must needed a replacement light. The bulb dimming more and more each and every December. But this winter seemed different to Reyna Parker, the lights were brighter and the moon was slimmer at this time of night. And it was unusually quiet tonight.
Her boots crunched beneath the New York sidewalks that the snow has previously been packed down by the packs of people who flow through there. Reyna hugged her thin coat to her body closer, searching for the much needed warmth. Her boots decided to scurry home as it neared midnight; not wanting to get caught up with the wrong people her pale green eyes transfixed on her BearPaws.
A tall, dark figure brushed past Reyna, sporting a rather stylish outfit for a man, bumping into her shoulder as she neared her cheap, one bedroom, studio apartment. The man looked up, mumbling a small, apologetic 'sorry'. She nodded not looking up, she ran up the five, concrete steps to enter her apartment.
Reyna avoided any contact with the stranger, hoping it wasn't a bad person.
Actually, it was the rather opposite.
