Chapter 14

Today.

Today is the day I talk to the she-devil herself.

Today is the day I talk to Annie.

You walk slowly to the shower, combing through your hair with your fingers before stripping and jumping in, switching it on.

'How is this gonna work? I can't just rant, I have to persuade her...' You sigh, shaking your head, spraying water everywhere.

'Woops.' You giggle a little.

'"Oi! You little shit, come here." And as she walks over to me, I could start explaining! "We need your help, and by we I mean the Survey Corps. There is some unease throughout the cadets as Eren is a Titan-shifter, as you've almost certainly heard, and he is not trusted by many. On more than one occasion in fact, many have tried to ambush him.. Annie, please. You're our last hope. And yes we have Levi, but you know what he's like, lil' cleaning-fairy! We can't always have Levi watching over him, is what I mean. And you're strong. Stronger than most. We need your help protecting him. No one else but me, you, Levi and Erwin are fit for the job, but Erwin has other matters to attend to as the commander, therefore Levi, you and I will be his bodyguards. Do you agree to help?" '

You cheer to yourself, smiling.

'Yes.. That'll be perfect!'

You pause.

'Wait. Since when did I start smiling?' You let out a half-hearted chuckle as you think of Levi.

"He's my lil' cleaning-fairy." You whisper as you wrap a towel around your body and walk into your room.

"Who is?" You hear a deep voice as you turn to see Levi sat on your bed with one leg over the other and his arms folded. You growl, a little shocked.

"Who said you could come in, perv?" You slip on your knickers under the towel and go back into the bathroom, closing the door, completely ignoring his question.

"I did, brat." You hear from the other side. You hear his footsteps as they start to get closer to the door. He stops and presses his forehead against the wood.

"It's not like I haven't seen you before." You can sense his smirk as you clip on your bra and throw your white shirt over it, and slide on your white trousers. You grab your orange jacket with the Survey Corps's logo on it and unlock the door, giving Levi a quick slap over the face.

"Watch your mouth, or you'll never see me again." You smirk as you put on your jacket and grab your cloak. You go to grab the door handle but instead your thrown against the wall and pinned there, but that was all you needed.

Flashback

You cry out as you're thrown against the wall, calling for your mother.

"MAMA!"

"Shut your fucking mouth, you little shit."

Your father growls, punching you square in the jaw. He smashes your head against the floor and kicks your stomach, picking you up by your collar and ramming you into the wooden part of your bed. You cry as he lets you go and slams the door behind him.

Flashback ends

You gasp going limp and collapsing to the floor, only to be caught by a worried Levi.

"(f/n), what happened? Did I hurt you?... Badly?" You open your eyes as tears start releasing themselves from your mental grasp.

'What's happening? Why can't I talk?'

You open your mouth, but nothing's coming out.

"(f/n)! Talk to me, brat!" Levi's eyebrows are furrowed and his face creased with concern.

You try again but can't, so instead you point at your throat and shake your head.

"You don't want to talk or you can't talk?" You hold up two fingers, implying you meant the second option. He nods and picks you up bridal style; you cuddle into his chest.

'Why? Why now? I've got to talk to Annie and all.. DAMN IT LEVI! Why'd you have to do that? .. No, it's not his fault. You need to learn to be strong, not just put up an act. You're father was right.You're weak and pathetic, nothing more than a little shit.'

You start crying again into Levi's shirt, but he doesn't seem to mind, although he starts running towards the infirmary.

You burst through the doors, well Levi does, and he runs into an empty room, setting you down on the bed.

"Stay here." He sounds worried as he runs off towards where Hanji usually is if she's not experimenting or taking care of people.

Levi's pov

Did I hurt her? What happened? I don't understand!

I run down the hallway, trying to find Hanji.

"HANJI!" I scream as I see her writing something down on a clipboard. I grab her wrist and drag her to where (f/n) is, pointing. "Something's wrong, but she can't talk." My voice quietens as I take a seat next to (f/n), slipping my hand into hers. I hope she doesn't pull away, and she doesn't. I rest my head on our hands, sighing as Hanji blabbers on to (f/n) trying to get answers.

"I'm sorry.." I whisper.

Hanji's pov

I don't understand a bit. First I'm writing down some important shit on my clipboard, next I'm being dragged to (f/n) who can't talk! How the fuck am I supposed to get answers?!

"Okay, (f/n)? Can you even make a noise? Laugh? ANYTHING?!" She shakes her head, her eyes lifeless but red, as if she'd been crying. "Okay, since you can't talk.. Shorty!" Levi's head pops up, concerned.

"You'll have to answer for her. What happened?" He sighs, looking at (f/n) as she nods, signalling the go ahead.

"Right, well she'd just taken a shower, she came out, got dressed and all that shit. But she was talking cheekily, and so-"

"Pervert.." I mutter, rolling my eyes.

He growls, but continues. "She goes to open the door, so I pull her back and pin her against the wall, but I kinda threw her.. She's too light. And then she collapsed and started crying, and then couldn't speak."

I sigh.

"Why did you pin her up against the wall?" I ask 'innocently', wiggling my eyebrows.

"Now's not the time, four-eyes." (f/n) spits, venom dripping from her tone, although her voice sounding croaky and hoarse, as if it hadn't been used for months. She looks just as surprised as me at this point; Levi turns to look at her.

"(f/n)? (f/n), are you okay?" His voice isn't threatening anymore, but gentle and worried.

'So sweet..'

"SHITTY GLASSES GET YOUR SORRY FUCKING ASS OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!" Levi yells.

Normal pov

"Can you speak now? Can you explain what happened?" You nod slowly and swallow the growing lump in your throat.

"I..I..Him."
