Chance the Rapper for Tyrese Jennings!
I release a breath when I finally make it into my room after a long day of shopping. My feet are killing and the ache in my arms from the countless bags of clothes is what makes me drop them as soon as I can.
I feel like I knew this would happen, but yet I went along with it anyway. When Tammy shops, well, I said it once and I'll say it again, she shops hard. I have about ten bags of clothes all from different stores, but Tammy has twice, maybe more, than me. It's crazy.
I take off my shoes and jeans, changing into a pair of Soffee shorts and a tank top, before pulling my hair into a bun. It is starting to get hot outside, and wearing jeans doesn't help.
Looking down at the bags on my bed, I close my eyes knowing I'll have to unpack them all. Luckily, my door opens revealing my brother and I realize that this can wait another minute.
"Hey," he greets, moving some of my bags so he can plop down on my bed. I place my hands on my hips and scowl.
"Go ahead," I roll my eyes. "Take a seat."
"Sorry," he snorts, eyeing all of the bags. "But I wanted to talk to you about something."
I grab the first bag, ready to put the clothes in the dirty clothes. I don't know about you, but I cannot wear clothes without washing them. It's gross to think about all the people that have tried them on.
"It couldn't wait?" I question, hardly paying attention.
"No." I can practically see him rolling his eyes. "Now, listen."
I turn my attention to him. "Okay, what's up?"
"So you know how your birthday is coming up in a few weeks?" I nod, how could I forget? Seventeen is a big number to me. "Well, I wanted to ask you about getting a car."
I tilt my head, my eyes narrowing. "A car for you or me?"
"You!" I cringe at the volume of his voice. "I want to get you a car and I need to know if you want-"
"Of course I want a car," I say softly. "But if you're using your money than no. You need it for college."
He rolls his eyes for what seems like the hundredth time. "Moms going to help, don't worry. Besides, I'm going to community college for my first year."
I shake my head at him, turning back around to my dirty clothes hamper. "I don't understand that. You got so many offers from colleges for basketball yet you're going to some stupid community college."
It actually gets me quite mad that my brother isn't using his talent to get into university. He's worked so hard on the sport just for this, at least I thought, and now he's just giving it all up basically. I want what's best for my brother, but I don't think this is it.
"I've gone over this before," he rubs a hand down his face that I can see from my peripheral vision. "Basketball wasn't meant to be my career-"
"But you're so good at it that it could be!" I point out.
"But," he points at me. "It's always been for fun. A hobby that I've enjoyed, but now it's time to grow up."
