Lucy POV
I rode Deserie through the forest. Every second counts when you are trying to find Aslan so he can save everyone. I heard a horse behind me and turned to see a Telmarine soldier had slipped passed Susan and was after me. I had no weapon and no armour if he fired his crossbow. I looked to my left as the soldier neared. A golden lion ran through the trees. He stopped in front of me and roared. This caused Caspian's horse to rear up, throwing me off the back. I looked at the snarling face of the lion, watching it jump over my head and kill the Telmarine.
I approached the lion standing in the dappled light. His expression softened as our eyes connected. I felt a sense of security surrounding him.
"Aslan!" I exclaimed, running over to him and wrapping my arms around his well-groomed mane. He fell over as I hugged him, chuckling with his low voice. I felt a paw wrap around my body.
"I knew it was you, the whole time I just knew it." I said. I sat across from him, smiling as much as I could. Aslan had always been my favourite thing about Narnia. He was a lion you could talk to about anything.
"But the others didn't believe me." I informed. I had a feeling Aslan already knew this, but I chose to tell him anyway.
"Why would that stop you from coming to me?" He asked. It was true. Many times I had thought about running off on my own. Each time I considered this, Narnia would present a new danger, like the wild bear or Telmarine soldiers. Peter was so focused on Addy he wouldn't open his mind to the possibility of Aslan.
"I'm sorry," I apologised, "I was too scared to come alone." I looked at the face of the lion. He was bigger and his face had aged slightly. His eyes, however, remained the same dark eyes I had always seen.
"Why didn't you show yourself? Why didn't you save Addy? Why couldn't you come roaring in and save us like last time?" Questions poured out of my mouth before I could stop them.
"Things never happen the same way twice dear one. I couldn't see where Addy was sent. I had no idea she wasn't with you. I could only see her when she was under 16." He explained. I looked down in sadness. I knew Addy thought her father had abandoned her. Then I thought, what about the failed raid?
"If had come earlier, everyone who died, Addy losing her wings, could I have stopped that?" I questioned.
"I don't know what would have happened Lucy. But what will happen is a different story entirely." He stated. I brightened up.
"You'll help?" I confirmed.
"Of course. As will you." Aslan spoke.
"Well I wish I was braver." I trailed off. If I had the courage Peter had I would have come sooner, if I was as curious as Edmund I would have searched sooner, if I wanted to know as much as Susan I would have tried to find an explanation sooner, and if I was as fearless as Addy I would have come anyway.
"If you were any braver, you'd be a lioness. Now what about Adelaide's wings?" Aslan asked. I looked down in sadness.
"Well the Telmarines tortured her, burning her skin. Then after the raid the caught her and Miraz cut off her angel wings, trying to kill her. Luckily Edmund brought her back and I used the cordial to heal the open wound. It hasn't perfectly healed as she aches a lot but the scars still remind her of it." I caught Aslan up on his daughter's condition. He nodded then blew, creating a spiral of wind and petals from a nearby blossom tree, which then went sailing off into the sky.
"Now I think your friends have slept long enough." Aslan stood and let out a familiar roar that no longer made me jump.
Adelaide POV
Telmarines surrounded me. Every time one fell another took its place, then two more. Soldiers, edging closer, now surrounded the Narnia army. Everyone was constantly fighting; the line of soldiers never ending. All of us were out of breath and tired, without help we wouldn't make it. It wasn't long before I was fending off three men. After shooting the second and bringing my bow up in the face of the third, Peter was running towards me. I was being boxed in with the Telmarine shield. I tried kicking the shields but that only caused my feet to burn.
"Addy!" Peter shouted, trying to move the Telmarines, causing them to move closer together. Nothing was working; the iron moved nearer.
Then wind- carrying petals- wrapped around the remaining space. The petals twirled around me, before touching the skin of my back. I kept still, smiling. The soldiers stared at me, not moving. The wind lifted me up slightly, and then dropped me to the ground. When my feet touched the soft grass, the soldiers all gasped. In the chaos that was battle, the surround men were silent. I looked behind me and saw wings attached to my back. They were less white and more glittering slivers. They were the same size as my old ones. The familiar feeling of my wing blades made me snap back from admiring my wings and concentrate on battle. With a new rush of energy, I jumped into the air, letting my wings carry me about the soldiers. I swiftly flew down, and around the circle of me, killing them all while they had their backs to me. I landed and faced a smiling Peter.
Trees moved towards us, making the Telmarines cower in fear. They all began running. I moved to stand besides Peter once he helped Caspian out of the ditch.
"Lucy." He concluded. Relief filled all the Pevensies, knowing Lucy was alive and safe with Aslan. I nodded at Peter, who was staring at my new wings. Boulders flew at the trees, scratching of bark and breaking branches. When one tree fell, it seemed to anger the rest. The forced their roots underground and pushed them towards the enemy. The roots burst out of the ground, crushing the wooden catapults. When the catapults fell and all the Telmarine advantages, catapults and giant crossbows, the Narnian army cheered in victory. It meant that now we were one army against the other. Just like the old battles I was used too.
"For Aslan!" Peter screamed. The Narnians ran forward, I flew alongside Peter. Leopards, tigers and other various animals leapt in front, just like the first battle. The armies were now even, and it was life or death, winner takes all. The Telmarines wouldn't just retreat.
"To Beruna!" The generals shouted. I shook my head in amusement. No army had ever dared to fight us at Beruna, knowing our victory last time. I knew they would not draw us to the same place, but Beruna was legendary for being the King and Queens' greatest war zone. Surly they wouldn't want to be defeated there? But still they ran, and still we followed.
