For years I've always thought that people had a much easier life than me. They didn't have to go through half of what I go through. Not to mention majority of my friends end up dead, so it was never anything I could really have. The ones that didn't die got scared of me, when they met the real me.
I lying in my room daydreaming about what will happen today. I start my first day of class at my new school. I was then interrupted by my door suddenly opening, and a tall Asian man at the door. He wasn't exactly old, but he wasn't young either. I guess you could say in his late thirties. He had long jet black straight hair pulled into a ponytail with a couple of strands left out and his eyes were brown. He was also quite slim. He was wearing a shirt with pants and was putting on an overcoat.
"Karin! Get ready. You have to start school today." he finally looked at me and said. "Do I have to? This is the seventh time this year that I've changed schools." I asked in a complaining tone. "It is what's supposed to happen. It is normal for teenagers to attend school." He quickly replied. "But I'm not normal, Shiro." I said. "But we must make it look like you are." He quickly said quite coldly this time. "I guess." I said reluctantly.
That's me. Karin. 17 year old teenager switching schools constantly. Oh and the slim guy I was just talking to, that's my foster father, Shiro.
"Come on." He demanded. "I'm coming, I'm coming." I grunted. I get ready, and then I get in his car and we head to my new school. Once we get there I proceed to get out the car. "Just call for me, and I'll be there." He stated. "Alright, Shiro, see you later." I replied.
I turn to look at the school and it was actually my first time seeing it, since it was Shiro who had set up everything. I must say this is a lot bigger than I had thought it was going to be. I collect my attention from the school and I begin to walk inside the school, once inside I notice this group of guys. Looking at them I noticed that the one in the middle really has a dark cloud over his head. Then I realized that wasn't a good thing. He could become a target. I then keep it to myself until I see Shiro later, and make my way to class. I have to remember to be as normal as possible. I get to my class, and take a random seat. Not to far in the front and not too far in the back. Just to keep too much attention off myself. I'm already new, I don't need anything else. The teacher then walks in, and looks at me then looks to the class.
"Good day class, I presume you're having a good morning." She said and as you can guess the class said nothing. "I'll just take your silence as a no. Anyhow, we have a new student. Karin! Could you stand and introduce yourself." She demanded. At that moment, the first thing I thought was "Really? This bitch is making me stand up?" but of course I reluctantly stood up and said "I guess." I then speak about my life a little bit but not too much as to draw attention, but I thought I'd mess with the teach's head a bit. "Well thank you for that intriguing summary." she awkwardly said. I then sit down "No prob." I said. Bitch! I then look over at the rest of the class and notice that Mr. Dark Cloud is in this class too.
I finish with my first half of classes then proceeded to the cafeteria for lunch. After I grab my food I look around, and try to figure out where to sit. I looked towards the back and I see Mr. Dark Cloud and the two boys he was with earlier. It's at this moment I think to myself. "I really should go sit with him rather than stalk him from afar. So I walk over there in hopes to sit with them. He was in the middle of a conversation, but I didn't just want to stand there; so I went ahead and interrupted to ask. "Is this seat taken?" I had asked. "Oh no of course not, sweetheart." The shorter of the two other guys said.
Sweetheart? This pompous idiot just called me "sweetheart!" He must not understand that I will make his life a living nightmare! I chose to calm myself about it and not take it personal. "I'd prefer if you wouldn't call me that." I demanded. "Oh forgive my informalities." He replied. Oh, great! He's freaking British. Wonderful! Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against British men, but I have everything against British dogs. "Why do you talk like that? Is that supposed to be cute or something?" I had asked. "I'm afraid the way I speak is an authentic charm, love. I'm a native of Britain." He replied. No shit, Sherlock. "Oh, really? Hm...well you must be from the trashy part.
At this particular moment I realized that lunch was going to bad pretty quickly, so I simply decided to just go out with a bang. And I don't think you want to go through that whole scenario again right? The short boy stormed out the cafeteria and the taller boy chased after him. Leaving only Mr. Dark Cloud. The only person I really cared to speak with. We talked for a while before we had to return to class. Within this time, I learned that his name was Cain. I finished the rest of my classes and then I leave with Shiro in his car. He was actually on time today. Of course during the ride home he pestered me with conversation. "How was school, Karin?" He asked in his usual cold, monotonous tone. "Cool, think I already made a friend." I quickly replied. "A friend?" He asked. "Relax, Shiro. He's too depressed to even focus that hard on me." I said in an assuring tone. "Depressed, eh? Hm. The darkness will soon have him." He said in an even colder tone than before. "I don't know about that Shiro. I noticed darkness surrounding him, but it was almost as if it couldn't get in. As if he were covered with a veil." I explained. "That would mean he could see the other half of your life when you're in limbo." He stated. "Yeah, but I don't think it'll happen." I skeptically replied. "Need I remind you, that you said that last time?" He scoffed. "Yeah, I know, but this time it's...different." I said. "You fancy this boy, don't you?" He coldly implied. "I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about." I replied of course trying to play coy. "Don't lose sight of what we're supposed to be doing." He advised. "I won't" I said. We finally get home and relax, but of course it wasn't too long before Shiro came to my door.
"Get ready. We're going out tonight." He demanded. "Don't we go out every night?" I asked in a complaining tone. Then of course Shiro gives me that look that every parent gives their child when they need something done. "Alright, alright. I'm getting ready. No evil eye necessary." I said. "There's not many out tonight, so we won't be out long." He said. "Alright." I replied.
And we're going to pause for a moment because I think I forgot to mention a very important part of the story. Hm...right I did. See, I'm what you would call a Nephilim. The child of an angel or demon. But I'm not your typical Nephilim, I'm a Half-Breed. My mother was a mortal human and my father, well...He was unfortunately one of the seven Demon Lords, Belphegor the Lost, Demon Lord of Sloth. The only issue is that, he died when I was very young, and he left me with good ole Shiro. Shiro was my father's personal servant. He was also very powerful...so he says. I have yet to see it. For some reason, he will never let me see him in a serious battle, but either way. I live in the mortal realm, but since I'm half-demon, I can travel to and from limbo. I pretty much vanquish the demons that try to come in to the mortal realm or lure people into limbo. It's pretty easy overall, but it does have it's moments.
Right now that we got that out the way I guess I can now end my personal chapter. Don't want to jump too far ahead.
