The Rally

The next afternoon Spot let me go to Manhattan to help Jack set up for the Rally. When I got there I saw that Jack had this big goofy grin on his face.

"What are you up to?" I asked him.

"Medda you'se can come out now" Jack said.

Medda came out of her dressing room holding up a red dress.

"No way I'm wearing that" I said.

"Honey your out with a real man tonight and you need to look elegent" Medda said.

"I'm not one for dresses" I said.

"Just go and try it on" Medda said.

"Fine" I said grabbing the dress from Medda.

I went into Medda's dressing room and tried the dress on. It actually looked pretty good on me. I walked back out and saw Jack with his mouth opened.

"You look amazing" Jack said.

"Thanks Jack" I replied.

"Ok well we only have two hours until the Rally starts" Jack said "Jade you go set up the streamers and Medda you can help with the refreshments"

After we set up for the Rally people started arriving. The Manhattan Newsies followed by Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Harlem and the rest of the boroughs.

"You look lovely" Ajax said coming into the theater with Shiner and Spot.

"Hey that's my girlfriend you'se hittin on" Spot said knocking Ajax upside the head "But youse do look beautiful"

"Thanks Spot" I said.

"Well I'se better get up on stage" Spot said kissing my cheek.

"Don't kill my brother!" I yelled after him.

"I'll try not to!" Spot yelled back.

I stood next to Ajax and Shiner. All of the Newsies were being too loud so I motioned to Ajax.

"Hey shut up!" Ajax yelled at the top of his lungs.

I laughed as all the Newsies settled down.

"Carryin da banner!" Jack yelled.

"Carryin da banner!" all of the Newsies repeated.

"So we've come a long way but we ain't there yet and it's gonna get tougher from now on but that's fine we'll just get tougher wit it" Jack said "But also, also we got get smart and start listening to my pal David. Who says stop soaking the Scabs"

"Well what are we supposed to do to the bums kiss em?" Race asked earning snickers from the room.

"Hey look any Scab I'se see I'se soak em period" Spot said earning cheers from Brooklyn.

"No, no that's what they want us to do. If we get violent it's just playing into their hands" David said.

"Hey their gonna be playin wit my hands alright. Cause this ain't what they say it's what we say and nobody ain't gonna listen to us unless we make em" Spot said earning more cheers from Brooklyn.

"You got no brains" Jack said to Spot "When we start to fight each other it's just what the big shots wanna see that we're street trash street rats with no brains no respect for nothing including ourselves. So here's how it is if we can't act together than we're notin if we don't stick together then we're notin and if we can't even trust each other then we're notin"

"Tell em Jack!" Kid Blink yelled.

"So what's it gonna be?" Jack asked.

"We're with you Jack" Race answered for the Manhattan Newsies.
