"FORWARD MARCH" Ttwo shouted from across the ways. I looked forward into the deep dark hell of the city with Zoe's tower staring back at me. People behind me started to move forward. I walked forward to the peak of the mountains. The thin grey fog was parting away to make a dome over the city.
The large assault rifle swung left to right as I carried it with both hands. The deadly machine was already loaded and ready to shoot. My handguns stayed sturdy at my hips as I walked forward.
Collective foot drops of the Virtue soldiers were disproportionate but all collect together it sounded in unison with each step being heard from yards away. I looked back at my squadron to see them all carrying their different rifles, looking forward in content and courageousness. Maybe that was the way it was, but I knew that they couldn't be this content. No, they were all scared to death under their skins.
Hazel stood to my side looking as ready as ever. But I knew she too couldn't be alright with bombarding Zoe without any fear. She was scared too.
As much as I was.
She didn't look like she was ready to talk, or to be told that she was scared. Hazel didn't want to hear it but she knows it's true.
The farmlands were being somewhat trampled by all of the people that marched towards the crest. Not that it mattered right now. Once we've killed Zoe we could manage the food to the people who were left confused and scared.
I hope at least...
After a couple of yards we finally got to the ridge of the mountains. The whole city came into view from up here. All of the buildings; destroyed and new stood in crowded quantities throughout the entire city. These buildings would help keep us covered and maneuver around the enemy and get them by surprise. Zoe's tower dominated the sky, being taller than anything else here. The seven faction towers stood in their half circle off to the side.
The rain picked up with more water and with more speed. It soaked everyone here and everything within the city. This storm was definitely more worse than the one on the day of the injections.
A streak of lightning rooted out of the sky and struck at the wall of the city. A dark wart formed from the power of the lightning against the refined concrete of the walls. There was a loud thunderous clap that emitted from within the clouds a couple of seconds later.
We walked downwards onto the face of the mountain. We were soon to reach the city where we would break apart and go through every alley and walkway to Zoe's tower. There was no doubt now that she or whoever else from that tower could see us now. It was only a matter of time before the swarm of Zoe's army came out to get to us.
The front of the row had finally covered the face of the mountain. The second row was just coming over the mountain with another batch of a thousand.
Two thousand footsteps and fire power marching over into the heart of the city.
Out in the distance of the towers a faint sound of something ringing could be heard. "THEY'VE SET THE ALARM EVERYONE. THEY SEE US NOW" Ttwo shouted from the center of everyone.
A sharp crack echoed out from the distance. One of the people to my left whipped around with blood shooting out into a mist. He fell over and toppled down the mountain.
"Shit" I hissed.
"SNIPERS. QUICK GET INTO THE CITY, THEY CAN'T PICK US OFF FROM THERE" Ttwo shouted frantically. Another crack whipped out, hitting a person behind me. Their body fell to the ground in a bloody mess.
Out in the distance little black figures began to group together in mass quantities.
It must've been Zoe's army. They were already out and ready to fight.
