I woke to a woman holding me and rocking me back and forth while I cried. Why am I crying? Who is holding me? Why can't I open my eyes? I needed that hug I needed the comfort even though I don't know who it is.
I opened my eyes to find Inferna holding me. She cupped my cheek wiping my tears away. Why is she being so nice? Why is she so warm? I leaned into her hand.
"Are you ok; you wanna talk about it?" She asked.
"I saw my brother in the woods being attacked by these wolves he was so scared." I said that and broke out crying again she held me close while I cried on her shoulder.
"Hey, when you calm down a bit you wanna go to the kitchen cause I just baked some cookies.?" She spoke in a way that calmed me instantly.
I nodded my head not trusting my voice. She helped me up and giving me a tissue and fixing up my hair. She led me to the kitchen and opened the oven leaving me to lean on the counter.
This kitchen is so warm and welcoming. She pulled out the tray of cookie leaving them to cool down on the counter while pouring 2 glasses of milk. After a few minutes of her wandering about she said the words I have been waiting for.
"I think the cookies are cool enough to eat now." She spoke very calmly but still spoke with a form of leadership in her voice.
I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie and took a bite. That was the best cookie I had ever eaten. It was the best mix between hard and soft it and delicious sweetness. I groaned at how good it was.
I heard a laugh come from behind me. I turned around to see SF looking at me and trying to hold in her giggles.
"I see someone took the drug called Inferna's Cooking!" She blurted out between giggles.
Inferna laughed and smiled at that. I had never seen her laugh before but now that I have I'm glad I did cause it is contagious. As soon as she started laughing so did I. We were a huge laughing mess. Slowly we all stopped laughing.
"Oh yeah I came in to tell you," she was looking at Ferna," that we have guard duty starting now." Said SF.
