The burden

A/N, sorry for such the long wait for my last couple of chapters schools been really crazy lately with exams and other things but know im almost on holidays i can start uploading chapters more often and i will keep you updated on when they will be coming.

3 weeks had passed and my mother still wasn't out of hospital i visitied her everyday with Elvis before and after school, The doctors say she is getting better slowly but it could be another week before she is allowed home.

but today i went to the hospital after school by myself as Elvis had something to do but i didnt know what!! As i walked through the quiet hospital halls the noises of the machines beeping and nurses and doctors slowly chatting. I walked into my mothers room she was sleeping and i didnt want to wake her so i sat in the chair nearest the window and watched as the world went by outside and everything in here seemed to stopped in time.

as i looked out the window my mothers doctor came in "Hi Abbagail, how are you today"

"im ok

"oh Elvis i don't want to be a bigger burden on your family, i think it's best if i go stay at home until my mother comes home"

"but baby my parents love you they don't think your a burden, my mum adores you and my father loves having another person to talk to about things, and I love having you there to keep me company when I'm lonely" he cracked a smile

That was the end of the discussion I stayed with Presley's until my mum was finally released from the hospital and it was sort of sad to leave the Presley's they had become my second family and I appreciated it so much so to show my appreciation I decided to buy each of them a present.

" thank you so much for letting me stay at your home while my mum was in hospital I appreciate it so much" I hugged both gladys and vernon

"It's ok darlin any time you need us were here for you and don't forget that ok" gladys hugged me tight

I was dropped home by elvis as he walked me inside I didn't know how to feel being back in this house. My mum had been dropped of by one of her closest friends and she had nurses come and help do things for her that I couldn't.

"Elvis I'm scared what if he comes back again and hurts my mum again or he tried to get me"

I cringed at the thought of Branden returning and striking once again

"Baby he won't come back the police caught him a few days ago he won't be going any where any time soon trust me and if he touched you he would have to deal with me" he wrapped his arms around me and kissed me goodbye.

I stood at the door and entered the house was the way I left it nothing had been touched it was scary I walked up the stairs to my mothers bedroom where she lay sleeping I'm her bed I crawled up beside her and fell asleep for a few hours until I was awoken by a horrible dream. I jumped up with my forehead covered in sweat gee it was bad he came back but instead of hurting mum he hurt me and it was pretty bad and elvis wasn't there to protect me I wonder were he was.

My mother was still sleeping peacefully, I decided to go downstairs and get myself something to eat as it was late in the evening, that night I ate toasted cheese sandwiches with some ice tea. I went up to bed and slept straight through till morning.

I had woke up really early to go and purchase my gifts for the Presley's I went to a lot of shops making sure I got the perfect thing for them and I did.

I bought Gladys a lovely necklace with a love heart pendant, for Vernon a decided since he was always reading the news paper I purchased a year subscription to the local newspaper. As for Elvis I purchased a horseshoe shaped ring that had a few small jewels, I hoped they would like there gifts.

I had it all planned out I would go over to there home and just act normal and just before I leave I present them with there gifts.

I knocked on the door and elvis let me in I couldn't contain my excitement. I entered the lounge room and I sat on the couch and spoke to elvis and vernon about how my mother was doing.

"she's doing better, she's been sleeping a lot and she is getting out of bed and moving around a lot more" I half smiled I must admit it had been hard the past couple of days

"that's a good thing at least she is at home it is better than the hospital and she is home safe with you" Elvis said wrapping his arm around me pulling me close

Just before I left I sat them all down on the couch and presented them with there gifts one by one I gave vernon his subscription to the paper for the year he was very thankful for it and he hugged me, I handed the box to gladys and she unwrapped it so delicately

"Oh Abbagail this is just so lovely I can't thank you enough for this it's so beautiful"

"It's ok I wanted to say thank you for everything you've done for me over the past couple of weeks while mums been in the hospital" I hugged gladys

"Elvis do you wan ago for a walk" I put my hand out in front of him

"Sure thing baby, momma will be back real soon ok" he grabbed my hand and we exited the Presley home and headed down the street

I stopped Elvis and I grabbed his other and gazed into his amazingly blue eyes.

"Elvis I brought you a gift don't laugh" I let one of his hands go and pulled the tiny box out of my purse and handed to him

he slowly opened it being real careful

"oh baby this is so beautiful I love it, Im gonna wear utter forever and ever"

he grabbed me and hugged me oh so tightly he was so warm and his colone smelt amazing.

"well baby I better give you your present" he whispered in my ear

I looked up "Elvis you didn't need to get me anything your love is enough"

"yeah but this isn't just some plain old boring present it means something babe"

Elvis reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a beautifully wrapped box and got down on one knee.

"oh Elvis"

"abbagil we've been going out for a few months I bought you this ring, its a promise ring so what ever happens I'm gonna be there for you no matter what" he slid the ring on to my finger

"oh Elvis its so beautiful thank you so much I love you"

Elvis offered to walk me home and I accepted. our walk home we held hands and talked about everything our futures and how we were gonna be together forever and he promised we would be.

Elvis kissed me goodbye and he thanked me for his gift. I watched him walk away homebound he was, I walked inside and ran upstairs it was late and I didn't want to bother mum so I went straight to bed.

my dreams were filled with visions of my future with Elvis and what my life would be like.
