One day

CHAPTER 9

"Dylan?.." I answered the phone.

"I miss you Lilly" his voice was delicate and soft.

"Dylan we broke up."

"I know Lilly... I can't do this without you. Honestly I need you. You mean everything to me."

"Why did you call? Just to make me miss you?"

No Lilly. I love you. I remember our promises. Forever and ever. Goodbye."

The line went dead. And tears filled my eyes. I missed him. I knew I did. I just wouldn't be able to have a long distance it would be too hard.

"Lilly how was your first day?" Rick had just gotten home from work.

"Fine. How was your day at your new job."

"Fine" me and rick always tried to get along for my mom. It just never really worked.

"Go upstairs." My mom yelled at me and my 2 brothers. All 3 of us took off upstairs.

"How about we play hide and seek? My little brother had stopped us in the hallway.

"No" I said.

"That's for little kids" Derrick said.

"Comon you two like hate me now or something!"

"Fine one round." I nudged Derrick and he said fine in a very unhappy tone.

"Okay ill count!" Ian covered his eyes and started counting as me and Derrick snuck downstairs.

"Down here" I whispered pointing to the basement.

"Are you crazy?" He looked at me.

"Uhm no. Cmon woose grow some balls."

"Ready or not hear I come!" Ian shouted.

I took off down the steps that lead to the basement and Derrick followed behind me. We both hid behind a furnace. There was 2 lights down there. One had the light switch by the steps and the other had a string you pull. We had the one that had the light switch on. Suddenly it went out.

"Stop!" I said to Derrick

"Stop what!" He said in an annoyed tone.

"Stop tugging on my sweat shirt!"

"I'm not!"

Suddenly I felt a huge jerk and I was on the ground a few feet from him. I think so anyway it was pitch black down there

"Ow Derrick!"

"That wasn't me Lilly! Erg"

I heard a crash.

"Derrick?"

It got really quiet. Usually nothing scared me. This did.

"Derrick this isn't funny" I slowly stood up and reaches around looking for the string.

"This is it." I heard a really dark raspy voice and a tug of my hair. I screamed at the top of my lungs as I flew to the floor

"Lilly!" Rick and mom came running down the stairs. A light came on and the sight was unbelievable. On the floor wrote "goodbye" in blood and I could feel very painful feelings on my stomach and arms. I slowly lifted up my sleeves and seen huge cuts all over me, not from me. And then I lifted up my shirt to find blood dripping.

"Where's Derrick?" I shouted panicky.

"He was down here with you?" Rick replied.

"Yes" Mom rick and I looked every where around the basement for about 5 minutes when finnaly we heard a banging come from a wall.

"In here" I shouted. Right away rick busted a whole with his fist into the wall. Derrick layed there coughing up blood and a mark on his forehead. A symbol like mark.
