Michael had kicked Luke and Ashton out of the house for the night. Well actually it started with having Luke take Calum somewhere for the afternoon which he and Ashton set up his date idea. It was Friday. Finally they were going to have their first date. Michael wanted to surprise Calum with what he had planned and he used the rest of the band to help put it into motion. Michael chuckled at Calum's expression when Luke dragged him out the door in mid afternoon. This allowed Michael and Ashton to set up. Michael told his plan to Luke and Ashton wanting their opinions. They weren't too thrilled about being kicked out for the night but Michael gave them money to go to the bar for a couple of hours.
Michael and Ashton turned their living room into a massive blanket fort filled with fairy lights. They had set up a couple of beers in a cooler and Michael ordered pizza for dinner. They set up the Nintendo 64 with a stack of games and there was a pile of movies sitting on the floor.
Michael and Ashton stepped back to admire their handy work. It looked amazing. Michael just hoped Calum would love it.
Luke was supposed to bring Calum back for five thirty and the pizza had just arrived. Michael ordered Calum's favourite, Hawaiian.
"Thank you so much for your help, and I am sorry that I have to kick the two of you out." Michael tells Ashton after everything is put together and they are just waiting on the other two.
"Cal is gonna love it." Ashton smiles.
"I hope so."
"He will."
It was another moment before they heard a door open followed by a bunch of noise.
"Luke seriously, when you asked me to come with you for a couple of hours I didn't think you wanted to go to a duck pond to feed ducks. You're bringing Ashton next time."
"You loved the ducks Calum, don't lie."
"No, I really did--what is all this?" Calum asks as they make it to the living room.
"Well that's our cue to leave. Have fun!" Ashton says and then he is dragging Luke back to the main entrance and it's another minute for the door to slam open and close again.
Calum was in awe. He was looking around at their transformed living room, the smell of pizza in the air.
"Is this our date?" Calum questions.
"Yeah, Ashton helped me set it up. Do you like it?" Michael replies back.
"I love it. This is so beautiful." Calum tells him honestly.
"Well come on, let's eat."
So Michael and Calum crawl into the blanket fort together. It was very spacious but there were plenty of pillows so it would be comfy. Michael dishes out the pizza, giving each of them a few slices. It was quiet for a minute while they ate. Maybe they should have started off with video games but Michael just wanted to get the food out of the way. He picked out all of Calum's favourite games along with the classics.
"Wow you really put a lot of thought into this." Calum looks around at everything Michael had laid out for the two of them.
"You deserve it, since apparently you've been waiting for this for years." Michael teases, nudging Calum with his shoulder.
"Shut up." Calum mutters weakly embarrassed.
"I'm only teasing you Cal. I wanted to have a thoughtful date, and I didn't really want to go out in the public only to be bombarded by fans and questions, that wouldn't have been fun for either of us. And I didn't want to do just a dinner to get to know each other. I've known you since I was roughly eight years old. I know what you like and don't like. I know your favourite bands, and how your favourite colour is purple and you wish Luke didn't put in that stupid rule in our contracts about always having to wear black. I know you. So I thought this would be fun, playing video games, which I know is what we did a lot when we were younger but this time it would involve cuddling and kissing and after we got bored of the games we could relax with a movie."
