I had a week to heal, the Mizukages own medic ninjas working on me daily. When the all clear was sent, I would be sent on my first mission to retrieve my partner. The girl who would be training with me for the rest of my life. The Raikage gave me a slight background on her, though to be honest I wasn't really sure if they had got the right person for this, however I had promised never to question an order, so I didn't. From the records my Master had given me, and the info about her from the Raikage, she seemed pretty tough, like she could take care of herself. I was warned under no circumstances was I to engage in unnecessary violence with her, otherwise it would be a battle to the death. This girl, Nyx, was from the Elduluci Clan, world renown for their eyes, the Nideru Mo Tetsu. They had been wiped out by the girl herself, killing her own family members.
I guess we sort of had something in common then.
She had shacked up in some old grimy village for some time, then suddenly left, without a trace. Ever since then, her sighting have been rare, and far apart. Her last sighting was in a forest of some sort. The locals had said it was a cursed forest, so it would be the perfect ground for her.
I was going to see about that.
We set off in a group, 13 hunter nin accompanying me, to make sure I didn't get into any scuffs on the way that would cost time. We also had a medic nin on standby, just in case my wounds would get the better of me again. Rin's tissue had attached to my bones nicely, and was just starting to heal and work with my other tissue. Len's kidney was working fine, not as good as my other one but the medic nin said that was to be expected, the kidney just needed to find my body's natural speed as apposed to Lens.
My mind flashed back to that day.
"We shall always be with you"
"Yeah guys" I thought. " I guess in a sick kind of way you are"
"The forest is up ahead, Ryuu-sama, shall we proceed?" on of them asked me.
I nodded, and swiftly we all jumped into the trees.
"There's going to be a change of plan slightly. You must all go to the outskirts of the forest, spread out and wait for me" I told the men.
"W-What?" they exclaimed, one guys glasses reflecting the shock that was in his eyes.
"I know what I'm doing. She's my age, and I know how to handle people like me. It will be easier this way" I told him, my voice empty of emotion.
They looked at me uncertainly. I mentally rolled my eyes, the Mizukage said I could expect this, the grown ups not trusting or believing in me.
That was fine with me.
"If you must, a few may stay behind me hidden, and concealing their chakra. But be warned, if she senses you there, I'll help her kill you, understand?"
They all nodded, a few gulped. The Mizukage had been going around, telling his own ninja sect that he had a prodigy on his hands, the child of a bijuu possibly. They had all terrified faces, even though that it was impossible for a bijuu to have a human child.
And without another word, the men dispersed. I sighed as I continued running, the medic had stayed behind. I guess it was because he had been threatened within an inch of his life that if he let me die, his family and himself would suffer a death far worse.
I began to use my tracking skills, ones that I had picked up in the school, the ones I specialized in. If I was a girl on the run, a girl in hiding, where would I hide? Where would I place traps?
I stopped dead in my tracks. This girl must be getting food from somewhere right? so that means, in order to trap food, and to trap people and loot them, there must be some kind of mechanism she has put together.
