Standby for Titanfall
"Three minutes to drop!" Was all I hear standing in the dropship, except for my own thoughts of course. Before every Op I go through all of my information, my family, friends, general information, even my own name. So that if I die on the battlefield this day I will remeber what I was fighting for. "Two minutes to drop!" My name is Allen Ace, my call sign is Blackjack, I am 23 years old, I am a certified pilot... "Sixty seconds to drop!" I am fighting for my mother, my father, and my brother God rest his soul, so they may have a better life on the Frontier and a peaceful respite... With that last thought, the cargo ramp on the dropship falls open and with the wind rushing in the battlefield is revealed. The lucious colors of green, yellow, and red on the trees, you would never have guessed this was a major turning point in the war. Stationed here is a giant reactor that supplies power to the IMC, if we take it or destroy it the IMC would have a major loss of resources and thats what we wanted. I look over what I could see from the trees to the lush green grass below us and the massive brown cliff face above us. And the water. Because we were over a pond a small haze of water was constantly in front of our eyes, as well as a small vibrant rainbow. I look in front of me too see five other figures standing before me. Four of them are fellow pilots. The one standing in the center of us however is the commander. Call sign Firebreak. "Pilots! Shut your face and uplug your ears!" Firebreak begins his manly speech. "This is no normal mission. You are going to capture a nuclear base giving the IMC a serious depletion of power. While your main objective is to capture it, if you fail that objective, which I highly reccomend you dont. Is to blow it to kingdom kom. Understand?" The drop ship erupts into many voices yelling, "yes sir!" While I just stood there in silence. This felt off. We've had major offenses against the IMC that we're similar to this one, however something just wasn't right in my gut. My attention snaps back to reality as Firebreak hikes his thumb backwards and says "Now get off my boat." The five of us look at each other, giving slight nods of acceptance, then turned and ran out of the open cargo door. Before I even had a moment to think about it I was already running. Almost as if it was muscle memory from the hundreds of drops I've done before. However this does not surprise me, what surprises me is that I'm still alive. As I think this, I'm airborne. I see the ground rushing towards me at high speed. The leg portions of my exo compensate my fall and I'm running again. Looking around I see the colors even more vivid through the projection on the visor of my helmet. The world is pretty with the naked eye but nothing compares to 4k imaging. Again I'm airborne, almost as if I was controlled, hearing the faint sound of the boosters of my jump kit lifting me higher into the air. Then my entire body shifts as, what feels like gravity itself changing as I begin to run along the wall next to me. In front of me is the last meter of the wall, and next to it the overhang of a cliff right above a cave opening. As well as three hostiles in the cave. "I count three hostiles, all tags read IMC. " I say into the microphone which projects sound to not only command but to the rest of my team as well. The response I received was, "exterminate with extreme prejudice. " I aim my left fist at the over hang and a grappling hook fires and hooks onto the structure, pulling me off the wall into a swing. As Im swinging I see the first pilot jump up reaching my height with his rifle aimed at my head. Instictively my right index finger moves and I hear rapid sounds peirce my ears, filling the enemy pilot with hot lead, dropping him like a stone. A flick of my wrist detaches the hook sending me into a fall about 20 meters to the ground, in the direction of the next hostile. I throw out my legs in mid air increasing the speed in which I fall. When I hit the ground I automatically begin to slide past my target. Almost as if the world was moving in slow motion as I slide, I take aim and pull the trigger once again, emptying the rest of the magazine into the enemy. He falls forward and I continue back into my run, straight towards my final target. The poor bastard just stands there, I don't know if it was out of fear or if he was just simply dumbstruck. I slide into his legs just barely avoiding an assault of bullets, as my kick lands it sends him falling over me. In this window of what feels like slowed time I punch the pilot in the jaw, carrying him all the way over me, sending him into the ground head first, breaking his neck. "All hostiles eliminated." I say. "We'll done, flawless work." I hear firebreaks voice, then, my engineer, Aubrey. "Pilot your Titan is ready." I think over for a second. "Drop it at these coordinates." I say pointing back outside, as a giant digital marker rises in my visor. "You got it, standby for Titanfall!" And here we go.
