Standby for pilot fall
Within seconds I heard the wonderful noise of what seemed like the whistle of a nuclear bomb falling from the sky. Then followed by a giant crash, the earth around me shakes for a few moments as dust fills the air. Small chunks of rock and debris decides to invade my personal space flying past me mere inches from my helmet, and striking my uniform in several places. When the dust clears I see my Titan.
Two stories of a bipedal combat suit covered in scars and scratches from many battles before, with its hand outstretched to act as a step as the core opens, revealing a seat and complex controls. Without a word I step on board taking my seat and closing the core. Its dark at first but soon lightens up as the front mounted cameras link to my helmet giving me a perfect 4k image of whats in front of me. As well as a voice. "Welcome back pilot, my systems are yours. We work better as a team." The voice came from the Titans artificial intelligence, which in some way weve bonded and have been tested by the stress of combat thus making us a very unique team. "Serbia I want a full shakedown on our systems." "Of course pilot. Defensive systems, online. Core titanium plating, 100%. Vortex sheild, 100%. TLS online. Viper rifle, operational." With the last check I watch as the wrist of the mech whirs open and a rifle worth of a titan slides out, the wrist then reassembling. The viper rifle was a giant automatic gauss cannon, powered by a radial cell. "Serbia give me full control." I say flipping a few switches. "Roger." Was all I hear as my entire world goes dark and I lose all controll or feel of my body as if i was in a trance. But almost as quickly, all the colors return as I feel my entire body become heavyer. I look at the large Viper rifle in my metalic hands and internally smile. Its time to go to work. I start to lug my heavy body forward back towards the reactor. This was about to go off. Then suddenly a voice rings in my ears. "Pilot, we are being engaged." I examine my surroundings and see a pilot jumping up to my left. I instinctively throw out my arm and grab him, and that was it. The force from my grasp crushed his body and that was it. I decided to conduct his burial by throwimg his remains behind me into the cliff. Splat. I continue to charge forward, as i do i hear the sound of metal tinking and bullets ricocheting. I turn and hold my hand and a blue aura eminates off my palm and i see the bullets fired at me suspended in midair, caught in the blue light. My wrist jolts back as the vortx shield drops and the bullets i was "holding" fire back upon the enemy, watching blood and dirt fly. Then I hear Serbia's voice again. "Pilot, we are being engaged by an enemy titan." My body feels pain as explosions appear on my left flank. I turn and begin firing upon the enemy titan. It was a scorch, meaning that it launches morters, missiles and can control burts of flame. I will my shoulder mounted laser to rise, and fires a percision shot at the cockpit, where I hoped the pilot was also residing. After the thin orange laser punches a hole through dead center of my target, unfortinatly there was no pilot inside. "Enemy titan controlled by AI, pilot." I hear Serbia's voice. The titan decides to punch me. Bad idea. I catch its fist with my hand. "I noticed Serbia! All power to TLS!" I bark the order to Serbia. "Roger, Rerouting." With this all taking place in a matter of seconds due to the fact of my mind being directly linked to my titan. I see a flash of orange fly from my shoulder right into the titans shoulder joint, severing it completely. Almost as if i were one with the machine, oh wait i was, i swing the arm into the cockpit of the titan causing it to pop open. "Jackpot!" I throw the arm and shove the rifle into the space of the cockpit and unload. All I see are sparks flying from the titans interior, however i can only imagine the look of twisted rage and enjoyment on my face. As the rifle stops firing i remove my weapon and watch as the titan explodes in several bursts. My fun however was ruined by every pilots nightmare. "Pilot we are being engaged by multiple titans." I turn to be met with a facefull of bullets and missiles. "Shit!" The barrage causes me to reel back. "Pilot, core plating at 50 percent." I look back up to see three titans slowly walking towards me. "Pilot, we are out numbered three to one. Advise you rethink your stratagem." In my head I scoff, i push the mag release on my rifle amd drop the semitruck sized magazine, and reach behind me to grab another. Click. Click-chack! The sounds of me reracking my rifle to engage once again. Except, when i look up im once again met with too much ordinance. "Fuck!" The mech once again slides back due to the concusive force of the blasts. "Titanium shielding at 0%. Danger. Eject, Eject, Eject!" Was what I heard followed by a giant red warning light that filled the cockpit. "Im not ejecting!" I say, then procedeing to hold up my left arm to project the vortex sheild. As i do i watch a man sized bullet drill through my hand. "Vortex shield, offline." "Goddamnit!" Then i watch bullets tear through the cockpit door, one of them scraping my helmet, throwing my head back and cracking the left side of my visor, revealing my left eye. "Pilot, core systems failing, eject, ej-" I feel one of the bullets rip through my stomach which was right in front of the AI module. "Fuck it." I say in pain, reaching between my legs and grabbing a black and yellow handle, and yanking hard. Suddenly i was airborne, looking down upon my doomed titan. Then, I watch it explode.
