My father returned shortly afterwards with the emancipation forms. I had no choice on whether or not I would sign this form. My choice had aready been decided for me. I didn't care because frankly, I've always wanted to escape from that horrid life.

I signed the forms in a nice, even script. I wanted to show my parents how much I didn't care about leaving school. I hope my handwriting would remind them of the school subjects.

I can't say that I wasn't surprised that they didn't worry about education. They were mosters after all.

I took a deep breath and stepped outside the front door. I had a backpack on my back. It was packed with all of my belongings that weren't furniture. I didn't even have a bed.

I looked back at my family. They were all gathered behind the door. My parents were smiling like you would smile at a wedding or a birthday celebration. They had been waiting since I was born to be rid of me.

Alan merely stood there. His big, brown eyes were focused on the ground. As a child, he was taught by my parents to stay away from me. However, he would always sneak away to come and play with me. Alan was the only company that I had growing up. He was my best friend in the entire world.

I smiled defiantly at my parents. I wanted them to know that I loved the idea of leaving them. Although, I would miss Alan.

I gave Alan a wink and a smile. With that, I turned to face the outside world. I took another deep breath and began my journey.
