As the thick blackness of night blanketed the world around her, a chill rattled through her bones, echoing in her ribs and threatening the steadiness of her legs. Still, the girl held her head high on her shoulders as she moved swiftly over the barren floor of her district. Her district. This was her's, and no matter how hard they tried to steal her sense of hope, the fire burned within her. After the games had ended, she had thought it was over. She thought that it would be done, that she could forget all the horrors that the arena had installed in her mind; even everyday things would bring back some deeply embedded thought. With the ground moving beneath her, she made it up the the Hawthorne's door. Jumping over the bottom two steps, just like she had when she was a little girl, Katniss knocked on the old wooden door. Inside, she heard the heavy footsteps over the creaky floors, and Rory came to the door.
"Katniss," he started, but she put up a hand freezing him mid-word.
"Is Gale home?" Her tone was serious, and she knew it must of looked odd to have you're brother's friend come to the door in the pitch of night. Rory turned his back to Katniss at the door and yelled for his brother, who quickly came to his side.
"Hey Catnip," He said as a smile crept up his face. The corner of Katniss' turned as well. Beckoning her into the house, Posy and Vick came to see who their guest was.
"Have you told them?" Katniss asked Gale, folding her arms across her chest tightly. He nodded in approval, then gestured to a few sacks in the corner.
"It's all in there," he said. "And you got Lover-boy under control?"
Katniss rolled her eyes in his direction.
"Of course I have Peeta set. Prim and Mom are ready to leave as well," then she paused ever so briefly, swallowing hard, "and the cat."
"The cat?" He stifled back a laugh. "Buttercup? Really Catnip? The cat?"
She exhaled deeply and out her hands in her face laughing. I couldn't just tell her no.
"Get everyone together. Meet me at the fence in twenty." Giving Gale a brief hug, Katniss hurried out the door.

By the time the Victor's Village came into sight, Katniss had broken into a cold sweat. She had lied. HSe hadn't told Peeta the plan only Prim and her mother knew. She didn't know how to tell him, or even what he'd say back. Popping just her head into her house, she yelled for her sister. When Prim came, her mother tagged along behind her with their stuff in hand. Katniss smiled.
"Fence, twenty. Gale and the others will meet you there. I'll be a tad late, tell them." Prim nodded her sadly and sulked out the door.
"Katniss," she whispered harshly, "I don't want to do this. I can't do this." He teeth were gritted under her cold lips. But she didn't stop Katniss to reply, in a matte rof fact, she kept on walking.
Katniss shook her head and walked across the street to Peeta's house. The lights were off, he was asleep. Walkign arounf the back of the house, she found his bedroom window slightly open, and psuhed it up just far enough to slip between it's wooden base.
