On October 13th, at exactly 8:32, a shrill cry ran through the Weasley home. Rose dashed down the stairs and into her parent's room.
"MOM!" She yelled, shaking Hermione awake. "DAD GET UP!" she was growing impatient. Taking a quick leap, she hopped atop their bed. Jumping, she yelled, "GET UP! COME ON TODAY'S THE DAY MOM!"
Hermione rolled to her back and smiles up at her daughter. "Is it now?" she asked. "What makes today so special?" Rose, taking a jump into the air, landing crisscrossed between her parents in bed. "Why, you've go to be joking me! You know what today is!"
"Is it Uncle Harry's birthday?" Ron said sarcastically. "NO! IT'S MY BIRTHDAY DAD!" Rose started to tackle him. Tickling her, she screamed with laughter as he had her. "I'M TURNING ELEVEN!" Ron let her go, then glanced at Hermione. "My letter comes today! Aren't you excited?" Hermione smiled at her daughter, nodding her head. "Lets go eat."
Sitting at the kitchen table, Ron marveled at how Hermione had managed to get everyone out of the house for the day besides them! They could all wait together, for you wanted to be present when your Hogwarts letter came.
Hour after hour, Rose sat. She stared at the door and never let her gaze leave it. /It will come./ she assured herself. It HAD to come! By 4, Rose began to fret. Why hadn't her owl come yet?! What if she hadnt been accepted to Hogwarts?? She stood up. This was wild, enough was enough. "MUM!!!" Rose yelled from the top of her lungs, and Hermione entered the living room. "What is it?" she asked catiously. "mum.... What if I wasn't accepted? What if tthat's why we haven't hear anything from the rest," she said.
"Rose," Hermione's voice was soft and gentle, contrasting her daughters fear filled tone. "Of course you've been accepted! Your owl must just be slow."
"BUT WHAT IF ITS NOT MUM?" Rose snapped back. "What if I'm not actually a wizard?! What if I'm just a mundane muggle?" Tears weld up behind the child's eyes. 'This wasn't fair!' she thought to herself. A firm hand place itself on her shoulder and she turned to find Ron standing behind her.
"Of course you're a wizard Rosie! I mean, look at you! I bet you your owl is lost," the phone ringing cut him off. they had only installed it recently in their home. Hermione picked it up, and covered her mouth with a quickened laugh.
"Harry got your letter!" she announced to Rose, covering the end of the receiver with her hand. "He has it now!"
