For a while, James had not been cheery and hardly smiled. Every morning when he woke up, he had a heavy pain in his chest, which made it hard for him to get up in the morning. He began to get thinner too, not having the appetite for anything. He didn't even talk to anyone. Even Samantha. Not even a glance... He knew she was there but...
Every night he cried himself to sleep, the pain completely unbearable. His skin had turned from a colorful peach to a pale gray. He started wearing hooded robes to hide his face from everyone as well as exiling himself from everyone.
Then one afternoon, he was lying in his bed, staring dazedly at the ceiling. Suddenly, something flickered, catching his gaze. He shifted his eyes towards the strange glowing ball. It zipped across the room, blinking. James managed to sit up, weak from his lack of muscles. It suddenly zoomed towards him and bumped into his chest.
"Ouch!"exclaimed a tiny voice. James jolted, jumping away from the light. It jumped too and tried to go near him again. He panicked and swatted it. It landed on the bed near his feet.
"Oof!"It said again. James scooted away, leaning against the head board. It suddenly got bigger, forming a small body. It popped small wings. It was a small little person with a small golden dress and blonde hair tied into a shoulder braid. It wore a white a head band around its forehead and tiny slip-on shoes. It stood up and looked right up at him. His eyes widen as he soon realized what this creature was.
"W-wait... Y-you're a fairy!"he exclaimed, shocked. Fairies never really approached death wizards. Not even if they were nice.
"Yes I am!"she said, putting her hands on her hips. She huffed.
"And you're a meanie! Why'd you have to hit me so hard! I'm not exactly indestructible!"she shouted. James bit his lip."Sorry... You just surprised me that's all. You're a light fairy. Your kind don't go near death wizards.." he says. She then giggled and flew up to his face.
"You're a death wizard? I hadn't sensed that at all in you!"she squeaked.
"But to be honest. You look dead."she states, looking at him up and down. He sighs."I'm not that skinny, am I?"he asked, looking at his frail hand. It was thin and you could see the knuckles.
"Well let's find out then!"she says, turning back into a ball of light. She zips up his sleeve and into his robe.
"H-hey! Get out of there!"he shouted, patting around for her. She giggled, squeaking happily.
"Goodness! You really are a sack of bones, huh!"she says and flies out. She sits on his head, playing with his fluffy blonde hair. He gulps.
"Okay so what?! How is this important!"he asks sternly. She sighs, pulling on his hair. He winces, then relaxes when she flies to his face again."Your light was going out."she says, frowning. She flies over to his feet and stands on the tip of his boot.
"What light? Light is not my speciality.."he says, crossing his arms. She looks at him with an upset expression.
Then she smiles.
"You have a light in your heart.... It's always been there. And I know exactly why it still glows."His cheeks flushed and he shifts his eyes away from her.
"I don't know what you're talking about..."he says, frowning. She grins, plopping down on her butt and crossing her legs."I saw you and her. Your spark caught my eye. When you looked at her, your heart glowed very brightly."she says. James sighs, covering his face.
"Please stop. Don't mention her."he says, feeling his eyes water.
"Aww. Well alright then. How about we talk about each other then?"She says,"First off! My name is Astrella!"She says cheerfully. James sighs, not having a choice but to tell her his name.
"My name is James..."he says. Astrella giggles again.
“I know! “Mr.Deathheart"."She says in a spooky voice. "I hear everyone talking about you recently. They say you're the exact definition of a death wizard. 'Emo'."she puts her fingers up and makes quotations. He growls, a little ticked off now."Why are you here anyway!? Really! Why me?!"He snaps. She grows silent, looking around.
"Well that's a simple one. To help you."She says, smiling with plump, pink cheeks. He lies down, huffing.
"Well I don't need your help. I don't need anyone's help.."he murmurs, pulling the pillow over his face. How could she help him? For him, his problems were unfixable.Astrella sighs with disappointment.
"Listen, tough guy! I can help you! Quit with this macho business! You're a man right!? Or at least your almost a man."she gently sits on his shoulder. He groans.
"I'm a sack of bones."he mumbles. She huffs, her wings fluttering with frustration.
"You are such a cry baby! Maybe that's why doesn't like you! Just suck it up and go talk to her you doofis!"she shouts, jumping on his shoulder.
"I'll help you!"she says, wriggling under the pillow. She tugs on his ear."Noooo...."James groans, covering his face with his hands.
"Geez! You're so wimpy! Come on come on!! Let's at least go for a walk in the shop area!"she tries to push the pillow off him. He stubbornly fights back.
"I don't want to."he says in a soft, low voice.Astrella is finally fed up with this crap and uses a much more forceful way. She waves her hand, casting a spell. She then touches the bed's legs and flies up. She crosses her arms, smirking.
"Are you sure you don't want to get up?"she asks."I think that bed is tired of you being in it."
Suddenly, the bed starts to wobble and move. The pegs at the bottom bend and start jumping. James is surprised, sitting up quickly."What the-!"he pauses, the bed getting more violent. Astrella giggles and casts it again, but on the pillows. They float up and start to wack him. He gasps, falling out of the bed and landing on his back. He grunts, scrambling to his feet. He races to the door, shutting it quickly behind him. He pants heavily, having not had an exercise in months. Suddenly. Astrella sits on his shoulder.
"See? I just have to have fun to get you to listen to me. Now come on, you lazy bum! Let's go get you some food!"she says, holding his fingers with her tiny hands. She pulls him along and they head off.
