"So..... What you're saying is.... He's a prince?" I ask, completely flabbergasted. James....a prince? Royalty? And he went to this school?
"Yep. He is," Daniel nods. "But he isn't exactly here on consent.." he finishes. I blinked, rather confused on what he meant by "consent".
"Consent? From who?" I ask. Suddenly, the door to the shop bursts open.
"Help, please!!" Cries a little voice. A little ball of light zips towards Daniel and I. My eyes widen as I finally make out what it is. A fairy!
The light fades a bit before a little body forms. The fairy flies up to me, trembling and frightened."Are you Samantha??" She asks, her eyes glistening with tiny tears. It was a light fairy! But what did she want with me?
"Yes I am. Why?"I answer. Her wings flutter and she smiles with joy.
"Thank goodness! Please help! He's in danger! I need your help, Samantha!" The fairy squeaks, pointing towards the door.
"Who needs help?" Daniel asks, peering over my shoulder."James! He's been kidnapped by a thug! Please help him! I barely escaped but.... James.." she whimpers, sobbing helplessly. I gently held her in my hand. Could she be telling the truth? Why would James have a light fairy though.
The door to the sandwich shop opens and the bell on the door jingles. Daniel looks up immediately.
"Hello. How can I help you? We're just closing up but I can make you something quick?"He says to the customer. The fairy gasps and zips behind me.The figure was an older teen, wearing a brown hooded shirt, black pants, and leather boots. He grinned and shot us with a look. What kind of gaze was that? It rattled my bones! Who the heck is this guy?!
He walked towards the counter casually and spoke.
"I'm so sorry for barging in on closing time but.... I'm afraid I've lost something of mine." He looks right at me, his eyes yellow. Yellow eyes? Unbelievable! I knew that eye color from somewhere..."I'm looking for my fairy friend. She may have gotten lost in this big city but I was wondering if she was here. Have you seen her?" His hood covered his head and a part of his eyes. But I could see them... They stared at me. Then it all came to me. He was after this fairy...and had to do with James getting kidnapped. No wonder she hid behind me when this guy came in.
"No sir. We haven't..." Daniel speaks up. "But if we do, then we'll come find you."
This guy completely ignores him, still creepily looking at me. With one swift movement, the guy comes up to me and leans over the counter."Might I say what gorgeous red hair you have. That's my favorite color.." he reached his hand out and touches a lock of it. His hands smelled like leather and dirt. Not a very good combination. I looked up at him, not moving a muscle.
"Excuse me sir! Please leave so we can close up. You can come back tomorrow!"I hear Daniel say, rather sternly. The guy glares at him, slowly pulling away from me. Then he looks back at me, looking me up and down. He smirks and chuckles.
"You're as beautiful as you are a liar, miss red..." He thrusts towards me with great speed, pulling out a dagger.
Daniel leaps in front of me, pulling out his sorcerer's wand. He waves it to the side, casting a spell
"Sandstorm!" He shouts, and gusts of swirling sand send the guy flying back ward and into the window at the front of the store. Bad ass!
"Run, Sammy! I'll take him from here! Go find James!" Daniel shouts. The guy began to climb from the broken glass and the rubble. The fairy tugged on my ear and I did what I was told. I ran out the back door of the sandwich shop and jumped the fence. I heard more glass smash.
"I can smell you, little red! Come out come out wherever you are!"
Daniel must have been beaten. Hopefully not dead! Then I felt a tug at my hand. The fairy!
"Please. Save James! He needs you're help! Samantha please!" She begs, putting her tiny hands together. Why me? If this is another prank of his, I will beat his sorry butt. If not..well....
"Alright. Let's go save James. If this is one of his pranks, I'll beat him up.. Okay?" I say. The fairy signals me to follow her and I do. I hear the shop behind me crumble. No wonder magic wasn't aloud to be used here... Jeez poor Opal. Here job was just destroyed.. Daniel's too.. But right now, James's life was on the line. Whether I hated him or not...I had to save him.
