Somehow Mario was doing horrible at practice. Fumbling is what the coach mentioned he was doing. Along with an incomplete pass and a bunch of other stuff. He got kicked off the field taking his helmet off sweat dripping off his nose and running down his face
He took a chug of water and pour some on his face clearly pissed off at himself.
"It's your fault" he mentioned not staring at me but pouring another cup of water
"What?"
He walked toward me and offer me a cup. I decline as he strutted my way with a smile. I couldn’t help it I took a picture. I noticed he was wearing our number on his jersey.
His favorite number is one and mine is 3. He chugged his water maybe its just a coincidence
"I can't play with you around"
"I doubt you could ever play"
I smile letting the camera hang from the strap around my neck.
"Hey, Moore! I didn't know you like them freaky!" a player jokes
I looked down embarrassed not this again. I hold on tightly to the ends of my sleeve once more.
"What did you say?!!"
I look up shocked at Mario's furious reaction
The vein on his neck was more defined when yelling at a player on the field.
Baffled at what's going on I look at him and the guy my mind is playing tricks on me. Mario isn't confrontational toward his friends ....he goes along with it
"I said I..."
"Finish that fucking sentence Eric ill demolish you in the fucking field. Don't forget it's you I tackle at practice! !!"
Eric didn't like that and started to walk this way but the players held him back. Mario was ready to face him
"Moore go home and relax yearbook people out too!!!"
Matt tossed his helmet against the water cooler making it fall off the table he simply stormed out
I followed not knowing what to do but something must be bothering him. I shouldn't care but that was a long time ago like said I'm over it
Mario doesn't get this mad or defend me. Something is wrong.
"Mario!"
He doesn't stop walking away from my pleading voice until he gets to the door leading to the locker room. I stop a couple of feet away not knowing what am doing is right
"I'm sorry" he whispers
He rests his forehead on the door looking defeated shoulders slump
"You didn't have to do that"
I look down but once more lie my eyes on him he raises his head but still faces the door unable to look at me.
"I should have done that a long time ago" he chuckles but nothing about it is gleeful
"Mario"
"Do you know why I cheated on you!"
He exclaims out of the blueHe made an abrupt turn to face me. I didn't want to hear it. I've seen it myself him kissing Chloe near my locker in front of everyone. I'm not hurt by it anymore but I still remember what happened
"It's the past we are friends now"
I say trying to avoid the topic
"I never wanted to be friends! I liked us but because I was stupid and fell for everything they said about you, I let you go "
