"I'm sorry Max I'm just not in the mood right now."
I was greeted by the same words I heard only a few minutes before.
I flinched. How was this happening? How did I still have my powers?
I must have reacted very noticeably because in the corner of my eye I caught Chloe's eyes glancing right at me.
"You okay Max?" She asked reaching for my shoulders with her one free hand. I moved away from her reach. She slowly went back to both hands being placed on the steering wheel followed by another sigh.
She must have felt guilt due to the fact her attitude suddenly changed. From being 'not in the mood' to then actually caring about me.
"Nothing, I just-"
"-You just what?" Chloe interrupted me before I had the chance to carry on my sentence which I was already struggling on the ending to it.
"Listen Chloe I don't know lets just carry on driving okay? It doesn't seem that far now I'm starting to recognise particular things I saw on the way out of Arcadia so we must be pretty close."
"Not unless you tell me what's going on Max. You've been acting so fucking strange the past few hours in this car." She leaned her elbow up against the open window. The wind causing the only shown hair coming from her beanie to blow back into her face. She was beautiful, even when she was mad.
"Listen I don't know what's happening I just heard you say the same thing twice."
She looked at me in confusion.
"What? I thought your powers would be gone by now..."
"Same which is why I'm tripped out by all this."
Chloe's face suddenly filled up with hope, I don't know exactly why.
"Holy shit Max! This means you can go back before you sacrificed me and change everything!"
In realisation of what she just said I grabbed her arm to hopefully get her full attention on this topic.
"What? No Chloe, why would I go back?I can't even go that far back even if I wanted to."
"Your powers were evolving each time though. You couldn't travel through pictures until just recently."

Sorry for this chapter being so short! It's been 5+ years since I've updated this story and I found this draft. I will carry on with this story if this chapter gets good reactions!
