This chapter is dedicated to all my readers who have followed broken vows till date😙
*Zahra's POV
I closed my eyes and threw two pills into my mouth and quickly pushed them down with water. They were prescribed to me after I thought I had a miscarriage, turns out it was pseudocyesis commonly known as phontom pregnancy or as we Nigerians know it,false pregnancy. My hormones seemed to have been acting up as a result of too much stress so it led my body to believing I'm pregnant. I got so tensed a few days after my marriage to musa when I discovered a pregnant woman couldn't get married islamically but what was done had already been done. I was waiting for the right time to explain to musa and we'd find a solution but thankfully God was on my side. I quickly hid the drugs in my underwear drawer so musa doesn't see them.He walked into the room and took off his kaftan top, he had just gotten back from the mosque and sat on the other side of the bed backing me.
I took my veil and told him I'd be going to see my parents...I really wasn't but I felt suffocated with his presence, I thought I would die staying in the same room with a traitor, sleeping with that same traitor almost every night. I felt like dying...I just needed some fresh air.
Just then his phone buzzed, it was a message. He stood up and wore his kaftan back and said he had more errands to run and left. He was up to something.
I took my phone and followed him without him noticing. As I suspected, he was going to see bahijja. I quickly put my phone on silent and turned on my recorder so I don't miss a thing.
'I have been calling you so why have you been rejecting? I needed to speak with you yesterday but you were no where to be found' bahijja said
'I have been busy, what do you want? Make it fast someone might see us'
'I missed my period. I think I'm pregnant and it's definitely yours because I haven't let jamal touch me in the last month'
'What do you mean you're pregnant? It can't be mine. I am not your husband so don't give me that responsibility. The last time I slept with you I made sure to use protection'
'The condom you took was the expired one, you must have mistaken both of them because both of them were on the table'
'Please don't ever mention this nonsense because I didn't impregnate you, if you know what's good for you better tell your husband that it belongs to him.'
That confession shocked me to my bones. I thought I was going to hear them talk about me but to my surprise, they were lovers. This is starting to get interesting.
Musa turned to leave but something she said stopped him...'Don't forget that I have proof that you killed him. Apart from that I have enough evidence to prove your fraudulent acts from the shadows in jamal's company. I can use all that against you if you test me, so I'd advice that you don't annoy me'
I guess what she said made him too speechless because he just stood, looking at her with no emotion whatsoever on his face.
But who did he kill? I have gathered more than enough threats for the day. I need to get out of here before one of them sees me.
*Jamal's POV
I took put my phone so I could see what was happening at home. I switched through the different cameras but everything was the same way I left it. I had gotten to the tenth one and I had decided to give up till something caught my attention... It was musa and bahijja, just what I was looking for.I plugged in my earpiece so I could hear what they were saying clearly. I missed most of what they said so I rewinded and I stopped suddenly because I heard something which shouldn't be. 'Pregnant' was the only word I heard so I rewinded it further.
'I missed my period. I think I'm pregnant and it's definitely yours because I haven't let jamal touch me in the last month'
Bahijja has been cheating on me? With musa, even after he married Zahra? Something must definitely be wrong.
I listened further and everything I heard shocked me. Both Zahra and I have been getting played, for how long?
I need to act smartly about this because I can't risk Zahra getting hurt...she must never find out about this. But what do I do now? Where do I start from?
Writing gets harder by the day but you guys keep me going 😙
With love,
Raheena💖
