*flashback- 14 years ago
Jummai our home hair dresser had come to make our hair for the week.
She had just been done with mine which she barely managed to catch. My hair was short! If it were just short it would have been okay, but It was like a farm land. It resembled the legs of a chicken - all spread apart. The only hairstyle that could ever be done on my hair was thread. My sisters basma and salma were to make theirs too. They both did the same hairstyle because they were naturally endowed with long curly black hair. Theirs was love-come-down which was a very popular hairstyle back in the day.
We got done with our hair and we ran excitedly to show our mother. Upon getting there, she only focused her attention on salma and basma. I thought it was because they were younger and needed more attention but as she turned she let out a very long and loud hiss when she saw my hairstyle and she said "what nonsense do you think you have done on your hair? Can't you see what your sisters have on theirs? Only God knows where you Got your strange features from because you didn't get them from your father or i" and with that she took the twins away with her.
That was around the time I started noticing the preferential treatment from my parents towards the twins.

Aunt Habiba mama's best friend had come to visit and I was playing with my sisters in our playroom. I excused myself to get some water when I over heard mana's conversation with aunty habiba
"I never wanted to adopt that girl but alhaji insisted. At that point we thought there was no future between us because the doctors had told us to give up because our problem was incurable so Alhaji insisted we get a child to strengthen our bond and by the will of Allah that was what happened. Through the mercy of Allah immediately after the adoption I took in, It was a miracle. From that moment on I enjoyed the company of my children more than that of a stranger. We picked her up from the streets because we never got her from an orphanage."Hearing that lost my balance and fell. I cried silently because I didn't want them to know I was eavesdropping talk more of knowing the truth about my existence.
Now it all came back to me.
No wonder I was so different from them. I didn't have that glow that they all did, I didn't have beautiful features or nice hair, I wasn't as smart as they all are. Now I understand completely. From that day on, I never took anything they did to heart because I understood why it was happening.
This is a flash back so it's a bit short..
The future chapter will come tomorrow In shaa Allah.I think I'm off to a good start, I updated 3 chapters today Alahmdulillah.
Thank you all for showing me so much love❤❤❤
JazakhAllah khairn
