*Zahra's POV
The drops of water slid down my smooth back causing me to regain consciousness and shiver. It was raining, heavily. The sound of the rain hit the roof hard which made me very scared. I have never been a fan of heavy rains, It scares life out of me but that even isn't the scariest part yet-The brightness from the lightning causes my eyes to blur for a while and the sound of the thunder shatters my ears like the sound of a gazillion drums being beaten in my ears at the same time. To cut the Long story short, I'm scared of rain. And how did that happen? I was abandoned under the rain by my biological parents and I wandered helplessly for days before I was found by my foster parents. And how do I know this? I had reoccurring dreams of being left under the rain for a few weeks in a row, after that my childhood memories started to come back bit by bit, even my name.
I struggled with the rope my hands were tied together with but I couldn't loosen it, it was knotted tightly by a professional, I'm guessing I'm not their first victim. But what could they possibly want from me?
In my attempt to struggle my way out of the rope, a bucket of cold rain water was poured on me and I froze for a few seconds.
'That your yeye husband no gree send our moni ba, you go see' he said as he pulled me up, covered my eyes with a bandana and dragged me outside, under the rain. He pushed onto a chair and tied me to it. The rain hit my body so hard that I could swear that drops passed through my skin. I cried my lungs out begging him to take me back under the shade, I shouted so hard that I thought I would have an asthma attack even though I'm not asthmatic. At that moment I saw a very bright flash through the bandana, I already knew what it was but I couldn't protect myself...thunder struck loudly causing me to fall sideways with the chair strapped to my back. I knew it was coming but every time it strikes I feel scared even more. I laid there in the mud, waiting for a thunderbolt that would send me back to my creator.
Why didn't I just die? I thought as the rain ended and I was once again dragged back to the corner I was kept before.
*Jamal's POV
I paced my living room frantically with my phones All lined up in front of me incase the abductors call again. I'm positive it was Zahra. The hand that was sent earlier was taken to the hospital for a DNA test, just in case. What do I do now that they aren't calling? I spoke with a few people here and there and I was able to raise thirty nine million. They said the ransom was negotiable but I didn't want to take chances so I spoke to even more people requesting for an urgent loan.*phone rings*
I quickly bent and picked up my phone but it wasn't who I was expecting, it was my father.'Assalamualaikum abba' I greeted
'Waalaikumassalam. What nonsense has come over you? I was gone for only two years but I came back only to discover that you got married again without my permission. Who is the father of that uncultured girl that would give his daughter out in marriage without even meeting the boys family? What about the wife I married to you, what went wrong? Did she do anything wrong?' I felt a ting of guilt washing over me because I didn't tell my family I was marrying bahijja. I simply paid a man from a far away town to be my waliyy and all was done. My family only knows Zahra not bahijja, but our pictures trended on instagram so how didn't one of my over active aunties see them?
'I'm sorry abba for not informing you, I think I was momentarily confused and overtaken by the beauty of the lady. But after marriage I soon realised that she was a wolf in sheep's clothing. I divorced her two days ago.' I said as I glared as bahijja who was sitting across the table from me. I wonder why she's even here, munafuka And about Zahra she has done nothing but be the perfect wife to me, I'm the one who has done her wrong. But baba there's a problem, Zahra was kidnapped yesterday and her mutilated hand was sent over this morning with a note attached and a ransom of fifty million naira'
'Innalillahi wainnailayhir rajiun. Is she okay? What did they say? When do they want the money? Have her parents been informed?' He asked all these questions without caution.
'I managed to raise thirty nine million so I'm looking for places to get a loan'
'What nonsense, come over now and
Pick me up let's go the bank''Yes abba I'll be on my way now' I took my keys and ran out as fast as I could.
Fifty million naira was bagged up and handed to the security to take to our car for security purposes.
' thank you so much abba' I said as we got into the car and I started to drive home. I didn't want to take any secluded roads because of the huge sum I had at the back of the car. I drove onto ahmadu bello way as it was the next fastest route home, the road was empty with not even a single car in sight. I heard a loud sound and the car wobbled to the side of the road. "It must be the tire" I said to abba as I waited for the car to slow down before matching the brake and parking at the side of the road.It was a flat tire, and there was a hole in it. The tires were fine just this morning, as a matter of fact I changed them just last week so there's no how they could be bad already, maybe I stepped on a nail. That just has to be it.
I opened the booth to remove my spare and change the tires quickly when I was grabbed from behind and pushed into a van, where that van came from, Only God knows.
