4 months later
Hey, I'll be over in 10 minutes.
Charlie smiled as she read the text from Patrick.
The last 4 months had been so much better with him around. And getting to know him again was even better.
He was the piece of the puzzle that had been missing for so long. Sure, it sounded sappy, but there was a lot of truth to it.
Her best friend, back again.
"Hey Charlie!" Katie's voice startled her from her thoughts. They were standing at the door, awkwardly.
"Oh hey Katie. Hey Pete," they had been doing that a lot lately. Standing around her without saying anything. Like they were going to tell her something but weren't sure how.
This time however, they did.
"So...um...Charlie...we...uh...have to tell you something," Katie stuttered. She wasn't looking at Charlie.
"What?" Charlie was confused, and slightly worried. Katie never acted like this.
"Actually it doesn't matter. It can wait-" Pete grabbed her hand before she could leave the room.
Now Charlie was really worried.
"Katie, what's wrong?"
"Um..."
"Katie..." Pete warned.
"I'm moving out! To live with Pete." Katie blurted out.
"Oh...okay," Charlie wasn't sure how to react to this.
"So you're okay with this??"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"I've been thinking for a long time, that since you have remembered so much more since we came to Chicago. That you would be able to live on your own now."
"Katie I'm not 10! Of course I can live on my own! " Charlie jumped up from where she was sitting and ran into her room. She slammed the door behind her.
"I never said you couldn't..." Katie's voice trailed away. She knew it was useless.
"Well that went(z) well," Pete sighed.
"Don't worry, she'll get over it," Katie reassured Pete.
The two sat down on the sofa.
"It wasn't as if I was spending much time in the apartment anyway."
"Ya..."
"Hey! Where's Charlie?" The two were interrupted from trying to reassure themselves by Patrick.
"Ugh, she's in her room."
"Okay..."
"You know how I told you that Katie might be moving in with me..." Pete began.
"Yes weeks ago. Did you finally pick up the courage you needed to tell Charlie?" Patrick folded his arms. He had heard everything from Pete.
