Chapter 3

It’s been three days since One Direction came to my grandparent’s diner and Grace and I still haven’t gotten over it.

Business has picked up a little here, but not by much. I’d never admit it, but every time the door opens for the restaurant, I secretly hope it’s One Direction coming in for lunch again. Or at least one of the boys, and I know Grace feels the same way. Except she shows it more, but we both know it’ll never happen.

“Ashlyn?” My grandfather asked, putting his newspaper down. Since no customers were here we were both sitting at one of the tables, he was reading the newspaper and I was reading one of Graces celebrity gossip magazines. Grace was upstairs taking a nap of course, she’ll sleep whenever she gets the chance.

“Yeah?” I said, putting the magazine down and fixing my gaze on my grandfather.

“Is that the boy band you were telling me about, the one’s that came to our restaurant?” He pointed to the cover of the magazine I was reading.

“Yeah,” I said sighing. “That’s One Direction.”

“Wow, they’re actually famous.” He said looking surprised.

“Did you think they weren’t?”

“Well why would a famous band come to our restaurant of all places? I figured they were just some local band.”

“Oh, well-”

“I’m going to go grab another newspaper upstairs, I haven’t read yesterdays yet.” He said getting up and going upstairs. He does this all the time so I’m used to it. It’s not because he’s mean, he’s deaf in one ear so he can’t hear very well. We always have to talk loudly for him to hear us, sometimes he doesn’t even know someone’s talking at all.

I sighed and went back to reading the magazine. Then I thought I heard a knock on the door, which is weird because people don’t need to knock to enter a restaurant, but nobody was standing in front of the glass door. I continued reading and then I heard another knock, and another knock. I got up and went outside to see if anyone was there, but nobody was. I turned to go back in when I heard someone faintly call my name, I turned around and no one was there still. This is starting to get weird…

“Over here Ashlyn!” The voice whispered harshly, I looked to my right and saw a hand sticking out from the alley way motioning for me to come over. Well that’s not weird…

I was debating whether or not to go over because I have no idea who would be calling my name, and why couldn’t they just come in and talk to me. Unless it’s one of the guys from… no it couldn’t be.

I decided on going over and was surprised to see an elderly women standing there, and Harry.

Holy crap! It’s Harry Styles again!

“Um, hi Harry.” I said, what is he doing here?

“Hello Ashlyn, sorry if I freaked you out or anything before…”

“No it’s fine, you didn’t.”

“Oh.” This conversation seemed to be going nowhere.

“So, what are you doing here?”

“Oh! Right, um, well I thought it would be nice for our grandmothers to see each other again. My grandmother was glad to hear from Jane so she wanted to come say hello in person.”

“Oh, that’s a great idea. I know my grandma will be excited you guys came by. Oh and hello Elizabeth, it’s great to see you again.”

“It’s great to see you again dear, you’re so grown up! It’s been years since I’ve seen you!”
