As he elaborated on all the girls he had dated, I glared daggers into his words. And they went straight through the player's words. My eyes weren't meant for pain and daggers, they were meant for humor and love; and Annie. I rolled my eyes and looked down in sheer boredom as he droned on.
"I swear she'll be mine soon." he noted finally ending his long speech, jolting me from my thoughts.
"Who?" I almost yelled, even though I knew he was talking about Annie. "Does she even know your name? What IS your name?"
"Charlie, Charlie Hardcastle." he replied, not picking up my annoyed tone. He extended his soft, un-worked hand towards mine, trying to show whatever "manners" he had. Too late. This is what most city people are like anyways. "She doesn't now, but that sexy pier will be mine after Florida."
"Oh, you're going?" I said feebly while sighing deeply, but not enough to be noticed. I hadn't even been invited and I was practically their brother.
"Heck yeah, didn't you know I'm Ashley's cousin? I'm in the wedding party." he gestured to his tux with the small bouquet of flowers in the chest pocket. "I can't wait to see her in a bikini." he smirked.
Emotions flashed through my mind nut one was prominent: hate. My blue eyes slanted into a scowl. I built up the courage and yelled with my emotions rising in my voice.
"Don't you dare talk about her like that." I had never yelled like that, never gruff; well, except the one guy who had held the courage to hurt Annie a while back. I channeled that moment and stood strong, although I was quivering with fear inside. Charlie was probably about half a foot taller than me, and definitely stronger.
"What did you say? Why do you care anyways? She's not yours and you even said it." he retaliated.
"She's not property, so don't act like she can be. Yes, she's not "mine", but it doesn't mean you need to talk like that about her. You don't know anything about her; you don't know she's amazing or that her smile could melt the devil's heart." I shouted, red in the face. I turned and walked out the front door. Maybe he was going to win, but I had proved my point.
As soon as my boots crunched on the gravel, I took off running to my truck. Charlie soon erupted though the front door and sprinted to his black sports car. I pulled out of the driveway and sped down the dusty road, with Charlie in pursuit of the back of my blue Apache.
I drove faster, pressing on the gas as if my life depended on it, which it actually may. The black car was gaining ground as we approached the nearest town. As we raced into Amarillo, he pulled closer to the bed of my truck. I abruptly swerved into the dark and dimly lit Walmart parking lot. He jumped out of his car as I casually slid out of the driver's seat, even though I was furious at the dumb man and scared for my life.
As I rounded the truck bed, I found myself facing the large man as we squared each other down. If he thought I was his friend before, the punch I delivered to his jaw sure changed that.

Anyways, I hope y'all liked that chapter! It wasn't as boring as some but it definitely wasn't my favorite! I love Brody haha a lot because I like who I cast him as(see photo in first chapter <3) and because he's so sweet haha you'll see! But does he have two sides? hmm? Love y'all!
