I am human.

I opened the front door using a key that was hidden beneath our address number, reminding me of that simple fact. The house was quiet. Text books were littered across the kitchen island. Glad to see my friends still decided my home was theirs as well.
I climbed the stairs with a skillful silence, jumping over a creaking step by the top. I opened the door closer to the staircase, peering in. A figure was snoring on the bed, dark brown hair covering most of her face from what I could tell.
"Mom," I whispered into the darkness.
"What, Yuu." She groaned groggily, rolling over.
"I'm home."
"Oh... That's good..." She continued snoring, before jolting, wide eyes staring at me.

"When the hell and how the hell? Where's Mika?"
"A few hours ago, extra key and uh... Beating up the Ringleader. Mika's with his mom."
"Oh.. Tell me everything tomorrow. Sleep right now." She said, head hitting the pillow. I laughed at how casual she was about this all.

"Okay. Good night, mom. Loove yoou~" I cooed jokingly, slowly closing the door. She flipped me off sleepily.

I woke up in the morning with an empty feeling in my heart. I didn't know how much Mika had become a part of my life until that morning. I didn't wake up to his presence begging me to sleep some more so he wouldn't have to wake up, or cursing at me for waking him up on accident.

I woke up to the sun shining in my window. To the smell of my mom cooking bacon downstairs. My seashell collection untouched, phone charging on my nightstand. My back felt relieved to be sleeping in a comfortable bed. My clock read noon. I had slept far longer than I had expected. Colette was with Mika and his mom, leaving me entirely alone with my own mom.

At least I thought.

In the middle of eating with my mom (the first cooked meal I had had in a while, in fact), I got a string of texts from a number without any set contact.

I got a phone.

I miss you.

Mom is on pills. Found them. She won't mention it.

......

Was it because of me?

I really hope not.

Oh. Mika. When the hell did he get a phone?
How did you get my number?

Lettie has your personality in her.

He gave no further explanation. He sent a photo of him with his mom at a cafe an hour later, both smiling like dorks. I showed my mom.

"They look happy." She chuckled.
"He was really worried about her." I sighed.
"Didn't you mention that he was taking a break?" She asked, leaning over the table.
"Yup. Don't think he knows the definition of that."
"Well, I mean, you mentioned missing him the moment you got into the kitchen. No 'good morning' or 'how was the five months without knowing if I was fine or not'. Just 'I miss Mika already'." She pointed out.

Damn, my mom makes some good points.

Of course my day wouldn't be complete without my friends barging into the house and giving me a long list of questions. One of them was 'did you fuck Mika?' From Shinoa.
Ah.
That's why I didn't like Asuramaru at first.

So, I explained all the things I had decided to keep a secret.

I told them no, I didn't have sex with Mika, and we were never officially together. Told them about Apollo. Every excruciating detail about him and the abuse he put towards everyone including me. My mom got pissed, of course. At me for not telling her. At Apollo for being a piece of shit. I told them about Mika's voices, and the surgery to make us human again. That also came with explaining what came with the whole Demon thing. And why it was so urgent that we turned back.
