Chapter Seven
Those dark eyes.
All I can see is those dark eyes on mines. So many times I have seen them and they have caused such a surge to go through my body but never has it felt so powerful until now or at least I think so. I can see a tear in each of his eyes and I feel my own start to tear up.
Instinctively, my hand extends out, reaching for his face, and caressing his cheek as he closes his eyes. He puts a hand over mine and opens them once again, face full of bliss.
"Hades." I whisper but I am shocked because it wasn't my own voice I heard but someone else's---someone with a much sharper and mature voice.
How could I forget those eyes, I think to myself though it was not my thoughts. I try desperately to figure out who is taking over my body because it was certainly not me. I hate him for what he's done to me. I can't stand to look another moment at those callous eyes.
"No you don't," the voice argues with me.
"Who are you and why are you in my head?" I ask her.
"The question is who are you and why do you keep trying to fight me," the voice retorts.
Suddenly she puts her arms around his and he does the same. She doesn't or we don't seem to want to let him go.
"Hades, I miss you." She murmurs to him.
This girl or woman or whatever she is has my face and my voice but she isn't me. These are not my words. The last thing I could ever feel is love for him. I seem to be just on the sidelines watching two lovers say their goodbyes.
"I must go, she's here," she tells him.
"Please don't leave me," Hades begs, weeping into her chest.
I or rather we feel a jolt of pain shoot through us as we see tears descend from his eyes and I wonder why I am feeling this way. This is not my thoughts or feelings but hers.
"As long as she's alive, I will never leave you." She says, rubbing his hair gently.
They kiss so urgently and for a minute, I feel a sting of jealousy and outrage for she is kissing him with my lips. This is my body and I can't even do anything but watch. So rather impatiently I wait for them to finish and when he finally releases her, she disappears completely from my body. And all that is left is me and Hades. He looks at me and smiles.
"Are you alright?" He asks.
And suddenly my eyes flutter open and I feel like my throat is about to give out for there is so much water in my lungs. I cough up tons and tons of water and Hades pats my back as the rest of it comes out.
When I look up it is not who I wanted to see. I thought I would see my mother and I could have sworn I saw her swimming towards me just a few moments ago.
Instead, I get Hades and I realize my surroundings and grasp the last 24 hours. He tries to hug me to him but I move away.
He utters so delicately that it sends chills down my spine, "Please Kore, you are shivering to death. Let me warm you."
I didn't even realize I was shivering until I looked down at my wet clothes and saw that my arms were shaking like crazy. I notice my breathing is going into frenzy as well. He takes his dark jacket off and puts it around my shoulders revealing his muscular form for his shirt is very tight-fitted. I try not to notice and turn towards Charon and Phelony.
