"Bye honey!" my mom said as I walked down the path to get to the school's main entrance. I pretended to not hear her because of what she said about my dad earlier. I'd rather my dad over my mom anyday. After I kept walking, she drove off.

Simon High School was a place where anything could happen. Just before we got out for the break, one of my elementary school friends was caught giving head to one of the basketball players in the football weight room in the back of the school during 3rd period. He was also one of the guys that my dad pushed around the city.

"Wassup bitch!" I heard as I made my way to my locker. It had to be my best friend since freshman year, Emyriah Joseph. We met during freshman orientation and have been inseperable ever since. We did everything together and were the baddest females that went to Simon. Now our boyfriends were the top pushers for my dad. Emyriah's boyfriend, Will, was also a senior with us but Malik graduated last year; barely.

"Hey ho," I told her. "I didn't think you would be here today. Don't your brother have his back surgery later on?"

"Yep but he'll be alright. So you ready for tonight? Malik told Will that he had something really big for you."

"I mean I guess but it's gonna be another night like usual. Me and Malik gonna go to the apartment, fuck, smoke, and then he gonna give me something he sent one of his boys for. Probably another pair of Jays or a necklace. I can't lie though, I do love that shit," I told her.

"You never lied. Will better do something nice this weekend though cause tomorrow we make 6 months. I know he told you something so what he have planned?" she asked me as the bell rang signaling that there was 5 minutes to get to 1st period.

"I honestly don't-" I could tell her before someone cut me off.

"You just gonna have to wait cause nobody knows. Only I do and after Saturday night you will too. Now stop asking," he said coming around the corner. It was Will carrying Emyriah's books.

"Bae, I can keep a secret, I promise," she said as he leaned down to kiss her. They stood there making out for at least 15 seconds.

"If you all feel like your public displays of affection are that important to you, don't share it with others and do it on your own time," Mrs. Baker, the principal, said to them. They stopped a couple seconds after she said that and now she was staring at them.

"Sorry Mrs. Baker. I promise it won't happen again. That is a really nice shirt you have there," Will said sarcastically.

"Why thank you Mr. Thomas, I've had it for years. Now please, don't let me catch you again and start making your way to class," she said as if Will actually meant what he had told her.

When she started walking down the hall we all bursted out into laughter. "You was real down bad for that one Will," I told him. "Imma head the chemistry. See y'all later," I said as they went off into an even more passionate makeout session.

When I made it to chemistry, I sat down in my usual desk and Trey was already there. His mother and my mother had been lifelong friends so that made us really close. We'd always play together as children at each other's house. His parents were still together and he had a nice home in the better part of the city. When we were in middle school. Trey was short, nerdy, and unnatractive. The years have been good to him because now he was tall, muscular and drop dead gorgeous. Not to mention he was a baller with scholarships coming from everywhere. Before Malik came into the picture, everyone thought I'd end up with Trey.

"Hey lil red," he said calling me by the nickname I had since I was little because I was light- skinned. "We still on for a movie tonight?"

"I'm sorry Trey. Me and Malik have plans tonight but if you really want to I can can-,"

"Nah. Don't worry about it. Todd and his crew throwing a party tomorrow night. Wanna come?" he asked.

"Yea, we gonna have to get something to eat before that though," I answered.

"I got you fire red," he said as the teacher was about to begin the lesson. "Imma text you though."

When lunch came around I was done for. I had to do through lecture after lecture but my next class had to be my favorite; study hall. I could finally get a nap in.

"Here you go," Emyriah said handing me a Burger King bag. "Will went to Burger King to get us something."

"Thank God," I said opening it and putting it on the table. "Are you going to Todd's party tomorrow night?"

"Probably not," she said. "Todd is my ex and besides, I wanna spend the whole day with my bae. You going?"

"Yea. With Trey," I said as she almost choked on her burger.

"Does Malik know about that?"

"No and he don't have to. I'm 17 about to be 18 and I don't have to inform Malik of where I'm going and who I'm going with. Besides, me and Trey are just friends and that's it. It's like me going to the party with you."

"I'm not 6'8" with a 6-pack and brown like caramel. Will might be my superman but Trey is like a Greek God compared to him. Every girl in the school would tear down all their walls just to get a piece of that dude. You better be careful. I heard he a plain out ho and Stacey Tibs carrying his baby. If I wasn't in love with that dude over there," she said pointing at Will, "Believe I would be all over the one and only Trey Burkes."

I didn't hear about the fact that Trey had a kid on the way. I also knew he wasn't loose like some of the other niggas that went here. Trey was a good kid and one of my best friends. What hadn't I known about him?

"Just be careful Nel. You know how jealous Malik can be sometimes. If you want me to I'll cover for you," she said.

"That won't be necessary because Malik trusts me," I said.

After school, Will dropped me off to my dad's after my brother sent a text that he wouldn't be able to pick me up but would still be at dinner.

After putting in the code that all of the trusted pushers in my dad's business knew, we pulled up to my dad's home. It was really nice in this gated community on the Northside. He had a house in the Southside where he took care of his business but I'd never been there. I'd love to live in this house with him but both my mom and dad said it'd be sort of dangerous.

I thanked Will, said bye to Emyriah, and started to go in. I used the key that he gave me a couple of years ago.

"Hey dad!" I yelled as I saw him come out of the kitchen.  It was 4 and dinner wouldn't start until 6.

"Hey baby," he said as I gave him a hug. "How was school?"

"Good I guess."

"How your grades looking?" he asked.

"I still have a 4.1. I'm almost certain imma be valedictorian like Clayton." My dad always made us stay on top of our grades because he didn't want us to be apart of the game. Clayton was smart but still pulled girls like there was no tomorrow. Now he was studying engineering at the university.

"Good and it better stay that way," he said. "Now go upstairs to your room and take a nap. I know your tired and imma call you when the food almost done."

"Actually. Can I take the Benz and go to the mall? And can I borrow a few dollars?"

"I guess. But your ass better be back here for 5:45. How much you gonna need?"

"Just 500," I said as he pulled 3 rolls of money from his pocket and the car keys of the table. "Thank you!"

I ran to the garage and hopped in my dad's Benz. My favorite song by Boosie came on and I drove off to happiness. I was definitely a daddy's girl.
