Run. My feet scramble through the decaying ground. Suddenly my ankle catches on a root. Shit. Heavy footsteps echo behind me. C'mon sawyer. You're almost there. I jump up, ducking behind a rock.
Deep breaths leave me. Sweat drips down my auburn hair, soaking it. No sound is heard. Cautiously I peak behind my pathetic hiding spot. All that greets me is the cunningly innocent hillside. "Maybe I lost him?" I whisper in disbelief. It doesn't seem likely. Still i look over at the rocky edge of the hill. I'm met with the blue sea twinkling at me. A sudden idea occurs to me... It could work.
A blue boat floats near the edge of the small, rocky beach. Perfect. Panicking, I quickly climb down the cluster of rocks. Finally my bare feet touch the cool stones of the beach. Almost. I hear a furious yell. My head whips to the tip of the cliff.
Holy shit.
Disgust takes over my insides as I stare at his figure. He leers at me. A cold chill runs through me as I stare. He suddenly smirks at me. It's a cruel smirk filled with deadly promises. I break my gaze quickly snapping back to the boat I need to reach. Knowing he isn't far behind causes me to burst forward towards the waves.
Legs pumping and arms flapping I frantically dive into the ice cold water. The boat is no less then 10m from the shore. I can do this. Just a little further and I'll be there. I furiously kick my legs, whilst my arms scramble against the tide and towards my destination. Before I know it my arm hits the edges of the hard rubber speed boat.
Wasting no time I lug myself over the side. My body lands on the dark wooden deck of the boat. I squeeze my eyes shut. Panic coarses through my veins. I lay there attempting to calm my breathing enough to figure out my next move.
Clearly I laid there too long. A crunch echoes the empty bay. Jolting, I continue to slowly peek from over the edge. Holy shit. I let out a light shriek as I recognise the large figure landing on the cobbled beach. Fear ran through me and I leapt towards the wheel. "Yes!" I whispered, relief trickling in as I see the key still in the ignition. My frantic fingers twist the key. A splash of water is heard, pushing me to slam on the accelerator as soon as the motor switches on . The boat rushes forward. I study the controls, I've only ever driven a car, I imagine it's pretty much the same thing.
I begin to relax as I race further and further away from the monster. My body aches and shivers rattle my bones. I've gotten away, but that doesn't mean I'm safe. No matter what he'll always find me. He said it himself.
Suddenly, a loud groan is heard from the back of the boat. I shriek turning the wheel sharply in surprise. My body shifts and falls with the force of the turn. The engine starts sputtering and spitting and soon enough it dies.
Shit.
"What the fuck?" A deep, very much male voice lets out. My eyes dart towards the very tall figure staring down at me in confusion. Fear racks my body as I begin shaking. I wrap my arms around my knees and rock back and forth.
Double shit.
