Chapter 6
(Some mature themes. Skip if you can't handle it. It's not that bad, but just in case.)

The stone floor feels hard against my body. It's so cold. My teeth chatter. My eyes have adjusted to the darkness at this point. I can vaguely make it out to be a cave of some sort. Salt water is all I can smell. I guess we're by the sea.
I hum a song to myself, trying to stay calm.
It's not working.
I figure I've been here for about 10 hours.
It feels so much longer. He hasn't come back since his last appearance, though it will only be so long until he does return. I still haven't gotten over the last time I saw him. The bruises on my body are a harsh reminder. Fucking bruises.
His smile's imprinted in my mind. Bright white teeth almost baring themselves at me.
So sadistic. So cold.
I shiver. A cry finally breaks out of me. More muffled cries escape me. They won't stop. Not now.
I wrap my arms around my bare knees.
I hear footsteps.
I rock back and forth, panic overcoming my weak senses.
The footsteps come closer, closer, closer.
I shake in fear of what's to come.
"Well, well, well what do you think your doing. Cheer up, I thought we were having fun." His voice drips with false concern.
"What do you want from me?" I look up at him. Be strong Sawyer.
"Ah. She speaks." He pauses "In answer to your question...well I think it's pretty obvious." He grins down at me. I flinch back.
Disgusting.
"I want you."

"Lily!" My eyes shoot open. Shivers wrack my body, a cold sweat covers me. I can't get his eyes out of my head. So cold. The green pierces my thoughts. My everything.
I'm broken from the memory of my nightmare by warm arms circling me. Tingles run up and down my spine. The strong arms feel so safe, I'm almost tempted to snuggle deeper. Almost.
Instead I force myself out of his hold. I look up at Cabe. He frowns as he takes me in. I hold my breath. The concern that glistens in his eyes throws me.
Don't trust him Sawyer.
"You were screaming..." His voice trails off.
"Was I? That's weird." I whisper, my voice husky. I force a smile in his direction. He looks away.
"Lilly can you please just cut the bullshit. We both know you're lying. So just...just tell the truth." His soft voice soothes me. He faces back to me, his eyes plead with mine. I want to tell him so badly, I really do.
But I know I can't.
"It's nothing. I have nothing to tell you." He shakes his head.
He won't understand. I know it. There's no point ruining any chance I have of being seen as vaguely normal. I look around me, familiarising myself with everything. We're in the kitchen, sitting around a small round table.
How the fuck did I just fall asleep? A plate of pasta lays in front of me. I look up at Cabe, confusion clear on my face.
"How did I fall asleep when..." I gesture towards the room.
"Well, I was just making the pasta, and when I turned around you were asleep." He stares at me. "I guess it must be pretty exhausting to swim 200 meters in freezing cold water." He looks at me mockingly, sarcasm clear in his voice.
Guess he still hasn't gotten over that yet.
I shrug at him, maintaining indifference. "Can I still eat it or do you think I'm still too exhausted?"
Two can play at sarcasm.
He smirks, and lets out a light laugh. "Do what you want."
I let out a humph before digging in. I didn't realise just how hungry I was until I took my first mouthful of the delicious pasta. Damn. Boat boy can cook too...
Not fair.
I quickly devour the bowl, savouring every forkful. Damn, it's been a while since I had something so good.
I push the bowl forward, already wishing I had more. I glance back up at him, to find an obnoxiously smug look on his face.
"I take it you like pasta." He's clearly attempting to hold back his laughter. Bitch.
I glare at him, "It was okay..." I pause determined to wipe that smug look off his annoyingly perfect face, "I was pretty hungry. To be honest, I would've eaten anything." I make sure to drawl out the anything. Ha.
He just rolls his eyes. Asshole.
"So putting aside your obvious love for my cooking," he pauses before staring at me curiously, "I was wondering if you actually had a place to stay." Ignoring the first comment, I try to think of what to say. I used to live in Fort Collins, Colorado; before I decided to take a gap year and travel, but clearly that isn't an option considering how it's hundreds of miles from here.
Fuck. The truth quickly dawned on me that I literally had no way of getting home, let alone finding somewhere to sleep. He took all my fucking money and my phone. Anger surged through my veins.
He took everything from me.
Not the time to think about that Sawyer. I push the anger away, focusing on figuring out what to tell Cabe. May as well go for the truth.
"Um, not exactly. Not at all really." I blush once again at how ridiculous and pathetic I must look to him.
I glance up at him to see him deep in thought, his teeth absentmindedly chewing on his lower lip.
He has got to stop doing that.
I blush even harder. He catches my eye, a knowing smile once again graces itself upon his lips. I glare.
"So what were you thinking so deeply about?" I change the topic before he embarrasses me any further. He raises an eyebrow, before answering my question.
"Well, since you don't have anywhere to stay and I'm hardly gonna leave you on your own... I thought maybe you could stay here?" I bite my lip, thinking about what I should say.
"Won't your mom and dad mind?"
I question him. His eyes darken in what I can only assume anger before he clears his throat.
" I doubt they'd even notice." A grim expression lingers on his face. Deciding not to delve into that subject any further, I nod slowly.
"I suppose I do need somewhere to stay. Just for tonight." I assure him. I guess I'll have to figure something else out for tomorrow, maybe call my parents. He nods, smiling at me.
"Cool, I'll take the sofa you can have my bed." I feel a little bad about stealing his bed, but the offer was too tempting.
It's going to be a long night.

So... I'm back. It hasn't really been that long but whatever. I'm going to try to update at least every week. It's really encouraging when you guys comment or anything like that so thank you for any comments. ❤️
