Chapter 7: The Return of Team Rocket

I came down the lift to meet up with everyone else. "Where to next, William?" Hau asked. "Hau, were you not doing the Gym Challenge here in Johto?" I asked confused. Hau got a very shocked look as if he couldn't believe he forgot. Without saying a word, Hau ran to the lift to face Falkner. "Let's head to the Pokémon Center while he is doing that." I said. We made it to the center and got all of our Pokémon healed when I was asked to come into Nurse Joy's office. When I came in, I noticed a videophone system. "Nurse Joy, what's going on?" I asked. "Prof. Elm wanted to speak with you and said that it was a private endeavor, so he asked me to bring you here." Nurse Joy explained. She left with Blissey and I sat down at the phone. "Professor, what is so urgent and secret that we couldn't do this on a normal phone?" I asked. "William, I've received reports that Team Rocket has taken over the Slowpoke Well outside of Azalea Town." Prof. Elm explained. "Azalea Town is where the next Gym is, is it not?" I asked with a very serious tone. "Yes. I have to ask you to investigate and put a stop to what they are doing here. Can you do that and save the region from their evil plans?" Prof. Elm asked very shakily. "I defeated their leader. A few grunts should be nothing." I said confidently.

When I returned from the phone call, Hau had already finished his Gym battle and was showing off his very first Gym Badge. "What happened to not waiting on me?" Hau asked tauntingly. I didn't pay any mind to it because of how determined I was. Leaf and Ellie realized something was up and that we needed to leave. Leaf grabbed Hau as we began to exit the Pokémon Center. We began to head down Route 32. I hadn't said a word the whole time. Leaf and Ellie looked at each other as if debating which one would ask what was wrong. Ellie grabbed my arm tenderly and looked at me with her adorable eyes. "William, what's wrong?" Ellie asked sweetly. I stopped and looked at the three of them. I took a deep sigh and decided to tell them. "Team Rocket is back in action and is up to no good in the next town. We need to stop them before they cause any more harm." I said. Leaf and Ellie got a determined look on their faces. "Why didn't you say that earlier? Let's get there and beat their sorry tails!" Leaf said. Ellie nodded as if seconding the motion. Hau looked as confused as ever. Before Hau could ask anything, Leaf shrieked and I got a cold chill down my spine.

"Well, if it isn't Leaf. It's a pleasure seeing you and William again." A deep male voice said behind me. I turned around and saw him. His bright orange hair looked like flames coming out of his skull. "Lysandre, what do you want?" I asked very angrily while pushing Ellie behind me as if preparing for a fight. "At ease William, I am not here to fight you. I'm just here because I had heard you all were traveling through this region and I wanted to give you this." Lysandre said as if he was a politician trying to make it seem as if he had never done anything wrong to us. He handed me blue box. "That box holds an Ampharosite. It will allow the Pokémon Ampharos to Mega Evolve if it has a strong enough bond to you." "Why are you giving me this?" I asked still protecting my friends. "Consider it a gift to dismiss the ill will between us in the past. I must go and return back to Kalos. I do have a company to run." Lysandre said smugly. When he left, Leaf collapsed on the ground out of fear. I made sure he was gone before calling on Lugia. "Hau, take her to Prof. Elm. Lugia will stay with you until she is healed. Ellie and I will deal with Team Rocket." I said. Hau nodded and took off.

Just as Ellie and I were about to head on our way, a Mareep started pulling at my pants with its teeth. "Legendary Trainer, may I join you?" Mareep asked. It sounded like a scared little girl. I crouched down. "Why do you want to join me, little one?" I asked. "Team Rocket took my family from me and I want to bring those baaaaad people to justice!" Mareep said courageously. "Welcome to the team Ares." I said as I held up a Poke ball. Mareep was caught and we headed on our way. "Ares?" Ellie asked. "The sheep constellation." I said. We started running through the cave that was just before Azalea Town. "William, what exactly happened to Leaf that made her pass out from fear like that just now?" Ellie asked. "Ellie, you know that's a touchy subject that Leaf doesn't want anyone else to know." I said. Ellie had a very concerned look on her face. "I'll tell you when we get done with this." I said as we made it out of the cave. When we finally got to the well, we heard a familiar sound. "Prepare for trouble," Jessie said. "Or make it double." James said. "To protect the world from devastation," Jessie continued. "To unite all peoples within our nation." "To denounce the evils of truth and love," "To extend our reach to the stars above." "Jessie!" "James!" "Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light," "Surrender now or prepare to fight!" "Meowth, that's right." Meowth added in. "Why are you three here?" I ask while trying to stop from running straight into them.

"We're here to keep trouble making twerps out of the way of Team Rocket's business." Jessie said. "Yeah, so scram you two!" Meowth said angrily while throwing around his claws. "Clefairy, lets show them what we can do! William, go ahead in and stop the others." Ellie said throwing a Pokeball. "I'm not going to leave you here to fight alone." I said. "Scyther, lend her a hand." A young voice called out. I looked behind me and saw a young boy with purple hair, green shirt and shorts, and a butterfly net in hand. "Bugsy?" I asked. We both locked eyes. "I leave these three to you two." I said as I jumped over them and dove straight into the well. "Is he a hero or just plain stupid?" Meowth asked as he watched me go down the well. I left the entrance behind and activated my armor to take on the other grunts. When I made it to the end of the cave, I found a man dressed in the Team Rocket uniform, but he was definitely different than the grunts. He turned to me and I got a better look at his light blue hair and his eyes. "Well, if it isn't the Legendary Trainer. Have you come all this way just to meddle in Team Rocket affairs once again?" The man asked. He had a scratchy, light voice. "Team Rocket was disbanded. Giovanni is gone." I said. "Ah, but that is where you are wrong. We are simply rebuilding Team Rocket in preparation for Giovanni's triumphant return. I am Proton, the first of the new Admins of Team Rocket." Proton said as he threw out a Pokeball with a Zubat. After a few minutes of fighting him with Ares, his Zubat and Koffing were defeated. "This isn't over. Team Rocket will make a triumphant return." Proton said as he walked out.

Ellie and Bugsy camedown to talk with me. "Everything go okay up above?" I asked. "Yeah. Ellieactually took them out and I didn't have to do anything." Bugsy said. I lookedat Ellie tenderly. "I knew you could baby." I said. We went to the PokémonCenter in Azalea and sat in one of the rooms. "Now, will you tell me whathappened to Leaf when Team Flare took her?" Ellie asked. I looked down. "Ellie,you have to realize, I didn't find out about this until a day or two after ithappened." I said. She nodded. "The night we got the starters from Prof. Elm,while you were asleep, Leaf came to me after having a nightmare and told mewhat all happened. Lysandre and some of the Team Flare members tortured her inmultiple ways trying to get info from her about me, my powers, or who I ambehind the mask." I told her. Ellie had a look of horror on her face. "Eversince then, she has been scared to death of Lysandre and Team Flare." Blisseycame to our room. "There is a call for you down stairs for you, William."Blissey said. "Thank you. I'll come down in a minute." I said. Ellie looked atme as if saying go.
