Braden POV
I watch Livy walk to her advisory with a feeling of awe and fear. I swallow my feelings and almost sprint to my advisory.
When I get there, everyone is already in their seats, their innocent faces staring blankly into the book they hold in their hands. So, I quickly grab a random book from the bookshelf in the classroom, and take the last remaining seat. In the back behind smelly Susie. Man, has that girl ever heard of deodorant?!I breathe through my mouth, half reading the book in my hand. I can't stop thinking about Livy. The things she told me. 'Be alert. 7:53. Something bad. Don't know what's coming. Must be prepared'.
I glance at the clock and my heart misses a beat. It is 7:53. I look around, my brow creased with worry, and anxiousness. Nothing happens. I sigh a breath of relief and accidentally get a waft of Susie. I gag and cover mouth, turning away from her.
I guess Livy is wrong.
No. I tell myself. Dark Hunters have physical visions for a reason.
With a sickening feeling I realize it must only be happening to her. What if she needs help? I saw how bad she was hurt when she came back from her physical vision. I have to find an excuse to get out of here. I have to find her.
I sit there tapping my fingers against the desk when suddenly I hear piercing screams travel through the hallway. I automatically jump out of my chair.
The teacher quickly stands up and rushes to the door. "Stay here." he says then sprints out the door slamming the door shut behind him. I hear the click of the lock as he locks us in.
I let out a yell of annoyance.
I run and slam into the door, ignoring all the other students who are giving me weird looks.
I will get to Livy.
The door doesn't budge.
I stumble back as I hear another scream. This one was full of pain.
Terror seizes me as I recognize Livy's scream.
I slam against the door again. Harder this time. I hear it splinter a little.
Feeling a bit triumphant, using all the strength I have, I slam into the solid wood door. It breaks and I shoot out the door, towards the sound of Livy's screams.
I turn the corner and take a step back.
Blood.
Everywhere. Then I see it. A beast. A Shape-Changer. This Shape-Changer is part human, part wolf. Probably the last of its kind. I can't remember the last time I faced a wolf Shape-Changer. Well, guess I'll have to face one now.
Livy. Is all I can think.
I push past the screaming, terrorized students, reaching for the busted open door that the Shape-Changer had gone into. The busted open door that lead to a room that has Livy. I can feel it.
I jump through the door and see the Shape-Changer looming over Livy, who was lying on the ground, her hair spewed around her pale face. Blood pooling around her middle.
A guy, with messy raven black hair, is hovering over her, as if to shield her from the Shape-Changer.
I tackle the beast, just as it opens its jaws wide. As if to devour the both of them in one bite.
I fumble for my blade.
