Dean hated the fact that he was here. He hated that he was dressed in a leather jacket with a fake 'samulet' around his neck and a stupid container of salt in his hand. He hated that Sam had talked him into this. He hated even more how at home he felt.

The fifth annual Supernatural convention was bustling around him. Everywhere he looked he could see someone dressed as someone he used to know. It should've made him feel weird, but all he could do was smile and relive some old memories. His favorite so far was a young man who was dressed as Jo, it made his heart soar to think that someone who really loved the character could take the time to recreate that person.

Sam had lured him here under the impression that there was a hunt. But instead it seemed that Sam signed them up for a panel. Dean was livid about having to speak in front of people, especially pretending to be some random guy acting as 'Dean Winchester'. It made his head hurt but he was still here, still walking toward the room where he would be speaking.

Every step he took the more fear started to wedge itself in his gut. For years he knew that there were people out there who went crazy over the 'fictional' books of his life but he never thought he would be here doing this kind of thing.

"Are you Dean?" A polite woman asked from her spot in front of the backstage door. Her eyes were kind and upon further inspection she seemed to be cosplaying Jody.

"I am." Dean tried to smile but he found himself almost scowling. "Where's Sammy?"

"He's... around." The woman smirked. "The panel is only for an hour but if things go well we can stretch it to two. Sam informed us that you would be talking about what happened after the books. Correct?"

Dean suddenly felt a little on edge. "Wait-"

'Jody' simply smiled wider. "He said you might be a little clueless. We got a call from Chuck a couple days ago which is why we contacted the two of you. He explained that you and your brother are the characters based on his novels, though he the Supernatural aspects as metaphors to your struggles and successes. The audience is very excited to hear about the real life ending to their favorite characters."

"Oh." Dean was still trying to process this as she ushered him through the door and before he quite knew it he was standing on a stage.

Claps erupted his senses seconds before his eyes adjusted to the bright lights blaring at him. The salt was still in his hand as he spotted a chair and decided that sitting down might make him feel less dizzy. Once he had taken a seat the room fell into silence. Only then did he realize the amount of eyes now on him. Taking a deep breath, he decided to jump headfirst into whatever the fuck was going to happen.

"Uh-hello, everyone. I'm Dean." Awesome job, Winchester, Dean mentally scowled before putting on what he hoped was an easy going smile. "Anyone seen Sammy?"

A few laughs rung out followed by a few hands shooting up into the air. Dean had to squint against the lights to see a hand belonging to a cute rendition of Bobby. "Miss Bobby?"

The girl stood up with a vibrant smile lifting up the gray beard attached to her cheeks and chin. "I would just like to say-um-that it's an honor to be speaking with the inspiration behind Dean Winchester. I wanted to ask you if you enjoyed the books?"

Thinking a few seconds, and realizing he maybe only read a handful of chapters from each book, he fumbled for an answer. "Well, I mean, it's weird. Yknow? Like I'm reading my own words from someone else's words... At first I was really appalled. I hated that people were so interested in my life when it was literal hell. I can't imagine that anyone would want to live my life... or think of me as a hero."
