"Ah, Selena dear, welcome!" My mom embraced me with a smile. Demi stood behind me. Shoulders tensed and fidgeting with her fingers. I heard people chatting inside, we were a little late.

"Mommm I missed you so much!" I exclaimed. I was actually excited to see her again. I had called her yesterday, after the incident with Demi. I cried on the phone, and my mom stopped everything she was busy with to talk with me. She can be so sweet. She cupped my face for a moment to reassure it was all going to be alright. I smiled back, telling her that I feel better since yesterday. Her eyes fall upon Demi.

"You must be Selena's beautiful girlfriend!" She said. I could see a small blush appearing on Demi's face. My mom reached her hand out to her and Demi shook it. Good girl. She nodded nervously.

"Demi." She said with a soft voice.

"I knew that of course. Selena has told me all about you. Come in." My mom said with a smile. She spoke with a certain voice as if Demi was a small child. I hate it when she did that. We walked inside. My mom had placed some chairs next to the couches to make a circle. The people who sat in that circle all looked at us. Speechless by Demi's appearance, since she still has small scars on her face and bandages on different parts of her body. She stiffened, looking at every face staring at her.

"Hi everyone!" I yelled while locking my arms onto Demi's shoulders from behind. She almost lost balance which made her squeak out a cute little grin. People started looking at each other with a shocked face. I don't even know if they were shocked because of Demi or because of us being together. I saw how my grandpa looked at the people with disgust and quickly forced a smile on his face.

"Selena! How are you doing, honey?" My grandpa was the best. I quickly hopped to him and gave him a good hug. I quickly gestured that Demi should come to sit next to me. She followed me and we sat down next to grandpa. He was old, but the nicest man in the world.

"I see you have chosen a lovely girl while working?" He said chuckling. I grinned and Demi smiled shyly. My grandpa has always accepted me for who I was. The moment I came out of the closet he just smiled at me. I remember that horrible moment as if it happened yesterday. Nobody responded in a positive way except for him.

"This is Demi. My patient and also my beautiful girlfriend." I said proudly. Demi quickly reached out her hand to the grandpa. Instead, my grandpa placed a friendly kiss on both of her blushing cheeks. The moment he removed his head from Demi's I almost burst out laughing as I saw the expression on her face. She was totally in shock, but in this family, it was normal to kiss cheeks to greet each other. I guess she wasn't used to that. She looked at me, still shocked. I just smiled at her.

They had begun a conversation about something I don't even know of. Something with her work and taxes. The only thing I knew is that it had something to do with money. At first, I tried to follow them, and I smiled whenever Selena's grandpa made Selena laugh. But after a while, I stopped following them. It was no use. I looked at the other people in the room, they didn't even say hi to me or anything. They chatted and laughed. I focused on the hands they used while speaking. Sometimes just holding it as if the other would give the person candy or something, other times pointing somewhere to talk about a place. They knew this place as if a map was printed in their brains. 'Oh, you mean that shop down the road?' 'No no, the one around the left corner' I saw another conversation happening that started looking somewhat like an argument. It wasn't a happy conversation. I couldn't look at them, the coffee table suddenly became a great interest to me. It was filled with snacks. Food I haven't eaten in 14 years. People sometimes reached their arm out to the snacks and ate it. Different cups and mugs were placed on it, all having colorful coasters underneath. Except for mine. I looked around to find another coaster, but there wasn't any left. Oh. What if people would think I'm rebellious or something? I found myself fidgeting with my fingers and breath started to speed up. I heard too many people talking and I heard too many things going on. I looked at Selena to search for non-verbal help, but she was happy being busy with talking with her grandpa. I didn't want to ruin that. She laughed once in a while. She was beautiful. I looked back at my fingers, trying to distract myself. Before I knew it, people came in with a big cake. Selena cheered with the people and tapped my knee. "Do you want cake?" I could do nothing but shrug my shoulders within the haste of having to answer. Apparently, that meant a 'yes' to her. "Allow me." She smiled, taking the knife from the plates and cutting the cake in pieces. The knife was big... and she held it in her hands with a big responsibility. She could cut herself. I heard it happening in my head. "Ouh!" She yelled and dropped the knife. Blood. It must have been in my head. It had to be. Imagination and reality became one big blur for me again. Not now, not now! She seemed to laugh because of her stupidity. And she went on.. but she wasn't cutting the cake. She was cutting herself. Or me? Was she cutting me? I felt the pain. Blood. Was I cutting? Was I cutting her? Was I cutting myself? Blood! I couldn't bear it any longer. My hands reached to the sides of my head and my jaw bashed open letting out a deafening scream.
