REAL LIFE
River was softly shaken awake by Ruby once their plane landed in Atlanta. River slowly blinked her eyes open, squinting against the light of the plane cabin.
"Are we here?" River asked groggily, rubbing her eyes. She sat up straighter in her seat, trying to work out the kinks in her back. Ruby smiled excitedly at River.
"Yes ma'am!" Ruby stood from her seat to grab their carryon bags from the overhead compartment, handing River hers. River took her bag and moved into the aisle to stand with Ruby.
"You excited?" River asked, nudging Ruby as they began to exit the plane. She smirked at the enthusiastic nod she received in response.
"Very. I still can't believe you managed to befriend the Civil War cast, and convince them to let us come visit them."
River snorted, shaking her head. She pulled out her phone and turned it back on so she could call Chris.
"Anthony's the one that suggested we visit, actually," River smirked. Ruby turned to look at her, a look of both amusement and shock on her face.
"You're kidding," Ruby said in disbelief. River laughed and shook her head. She looked down at her phone that had finally turned on and checked the time. 9:37 pm it read.
River unlocked her phone and scrolled through her contacts to find Chris' number. She pressed the call button and put the phone to her ear.
The phone dialed as River and Ruby walked through the airport terminal. They were almost to the baggage claim when Chris picked up.
"Hey, Sunshine," he said happily through the phone. River felt herself smile widely at the sound of his voice.
"Hey there, Honey Bunch. Ruby and I are here! We're almost to the baggage claim."
"Alright, cool," Chris said. There was some rustling on his end of the line, and there was a sound of a door closing. She faintly heard the sound of Sebastian's voice, and she really heard the loud sound of Chris' laughter. River found herself giggling along with him. Ruby quirked an eyebrow at her best friend, and River waved her off. Ruby laughed quietly, shaking her head.
"Awesome!" Chris finally said, his laughter still evident in his voice. "What section are you guys in? Sebastian and I are on our way up."
River looked up at the sign that was right above their baggage claim. Gate 7D.
"We're at gate 7D. Do you want us to meet you guys anywhere? We can grab our bags and head your way," River suggested, following Ruby to the revolver. The two girls began looking for their bags, and River immediately found her guitar case. No matter where she went, her guitar (and Ruby) came with her.
"No, no, it's fine. You two stay there and we'll be right over."
"Alright. See you guys soon!" River and Chris quickly said their goodbyes before she pocketed her phone, turning her attention back to finding her luggage.
"You've got it bad," Ruby said teasingly, grabbing her bag once she spotted it. River scoffed, grabbing her own.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Uh huh. Sure you don't."
"Shut up," River said in mock annoyance. She began to look around for Chris and Sebastian.
