Samuel was sitting peacefully in his room, like normal, he sat at his computer playing "Raid of the Night". It was close to midnight and he was home alone. The only light that was present in the whole house was from his computer glowing on his desk. This was not an uncommon thing for him. When his dad goes off to work, his mother leaves to do God knows what, and his brother goes to his girlfriend's house, he is left to watch the house and 4 dogs they have. Sam got up to go find a midnight snack. As he stood he froze, he suddenly realized that he was no longer alone. He felt a presence near him, he knew he was being watched. Sam glanced down at his desk and opened the top drawer on the right side. He slipped out an old pocket knife he got for his 10th birthday with a wooden handle. He knew it would never give him any real protection, but it was worth a shot. He spun, flung his arm around, and was surprised when he hit something hard. He hadn't killed the person but he had injured it. The intruder was male. He was close to his own age and was a very attractive. He had dark hair that came down to his ears and it had little curls at the end from getting to long. His arms were muscular, toned, and a beautiful shade of olive.  The thing that stood out the most however, was the electric shade of blue in his eyes, so bright, that they seemed to glow. The same shade of blue was entwined on the boy's arm, almost like it was in his blood steam. The injury that Sam caused was almost imminently gone, replaced by a patch of blue skin. The boy chuckled and stood. Sam held his pocket knife out in a defensive position.

" Wow," the boy sarcastically said. "Normally when you bring someone a midnight snack, you expect a thank you, not an attack."

"What the hell are you talking about? A snack! A strange guy shows up in my house who looks part avatar or something and I'm expected to say thanks. Honestly, who do you think I am? My mother." Sam responded. Throughout his whole speech, he didn't once lower his knife. He was oddly calm for this situation. His hand didn't tremble, and neither did his voice.

"I'm Toby, there you happy. Now, please lower your knife. I would like to be able to check you out without having to look around it. It truly is a inconvenience. And no, I don't think your anything like your mother, I think you would be able to kill unlike her. That poor slob." Sam felt his face grow hot, no one ever checked him out, he was just an average guy from Soddy Clemens High school.

"Check me out?" Sam said sheepishly. "Actually— no— what about my mom? You know what, you spoke of a snack? I truly am hungry and hopefully, once I eat something, I'll be able to figure out what's going on." Toby chuckled softly. He looked around the room and found a clock. It read 12:18AM.

"42 minutes left for me to explain to you what is going on and to convince you to come back to base with me. Sure, you have plenty of time to eat." Toby said in a teasing manner. "Here, I brought you some cookies, they're from your kitchen, so I guess you eat this kind of stuff." He pushed the plate of cookies towards Sam, who now was sitting comfortable on his bed with his knife in grabbing distance.
