Chapter 4

8-16-12

11:00AM

Growing Alphas Prep, Mall C

Carrie’s POV

“Onyx, CAN you please tell me why you hate the mall?” I asked loudly, and she stopped slirping on her Dr. Pepper.

We were in the food court, and all Onyx had gotten to eat was a bag of chips and Dr. Pepper. Couldn’t she eat something that was a little bit more healthy? Somehow though, she eats this stuff for breakfast and ends up somehow having more muscle than fat on her body. Must either have a high metabolism or be athletic.

Plus, Onyx had been complaining about how much she hates the mall, and how she hates that we have to go here once a day, and that we have to buy something from here once a week. Yet, she never said why she hates the mall. She seriously sound like Sarah Hill.

“When I was around five, my mother had decided to start bringing me into the mall every day, telling me this or that about fashion, and what not. For the first two years of it, I actually believed it, until, my mother got remarried to my father, and we all moved to Las Vegas. There, I went to a private school, and started to hang out with the boys of the school, and became a tomboy in the process. At that time that this happened, my sister became of age to start going to the mall with my mother and I. My mother than started to notice that I was a tomboy, and literally screamed at me in the middle of the mall, making me look like a total fool. She then while at the mall, always tries to steer me in the direct that she thinks that every girl should go to. Mainly, my hatred of it is because of the memories that have occurred while I was here. I would like the mall maybe, but to me, it resembles all of the things that I don’t want to be.” Onyx then finished her explaination with taking another slirp of her soda.

“Oh. Then it is up to me to try to change that then.” I answered.

            “Good luck.”

I sighed, and got up, taking the remnants of my sub into the trash. If all of what she told me was true, I do feel very sorry for her. It sounds like her parents are totally and epically evil to an extent. I would probably be the same way if I was her, maybe not as hateful and annoyingly bitchy, but I would be a lot like that.

Onyx then got up, and threw her empty cup of soda away.

“Now, what kind of torture are you going to put me through?” Onyx then asked, and I rolled my eyes.

“One, I am not going to put you through torture, I am more like going to get you to have fun. Two, for at least one minute, can you STOP complaining?” I answered, and Onyx froze. For the second time today, I have gotten Onyx to stop in her tracks.

            “I…… I don’t complain!” Onyx protested.

“Yes you do, you have since you woke up!” I explained. “I understand that you hate this place with a passion, I understand that you were here against your will, but can you please lighten up, that is all I am asking for.” I pleaded.

            “Whatever.” Onyx sighed.

“Now, let’s go have some fun while we are here, I am bound and determined to prove you wrong.” I said.

“Good luck, as I said.” Onyx warned, “The mall is quite the bad place for me.”

I sighed, and walked around, looking for the right place for Onyx and I to go to. Something that, Onyx would not attempt to kill me for. Well, that I hoped that Onyx would not attempt to kill me for. I then found a place called “Hot Topic”, some place that looked like it might be something that Onyx might like.
