"Hey, what you said earlier," Will begins. "About flirting with me."

"Yeah, what about it?" I ask, preparing for rejection.

"I just wanted you to know that I feel-"

"ATTENTION GHOSTS WILL AND NICO."

"What is that?" I ask, upset the abnormally loud voice interrupted our conversation.

"That's Audiblio he's the god of-"

"THE GODS NEED YOU TO EXTERMINATE A COUPLE OF VAMPIRES IN SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA."

"He's the god of loud noises. Basically he tells us what to do."

"YOU NEED TO GO NOW!"

"Okay I guess we need to go now." Will looks disappointed. "We can continue our conversation later."

"O-okay," I say, not sure whether to freak out or not. And I'm not talking about freaking out about killing vampires.

We arrive in Sacramento. It feels weird, standing around and not being acknowledged. I almost wave to a few friendly looking people, but then I remember they can't see me.

"Let's go kill some vamps," Will says.

"OMG it's like I'm in Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

He looks at me like I'm the most precious thing in the world.

"I remember when I was that excited," he says. "And I remember when my mentor told me..." His face goes dark.

I've been noticing that expression whenever he brought his mentor. I wonder what happened. Did his mentor die or something?

"Can ghosts die?" I ask Will, part prying and part actually wondering.

"No, we can't die," he answers. "It's kinda one of the perks of the job. But if we do something bad, the gods can zap us out of existence. Also we can get hurt. So I guess we kind of can die. It's complicated."

"I'll be sure not sin then. But that shouldn't be too hard. I'm an angel." I bat my eyelashes.

"Speaking of Angel, we need to kill some vampires." Will says, extremely proud of his pun.

"So who are these vampires anyway?" I ask.

"A vampire couple, their names are um..." He squints. "Um, Yvetsa and Theodono."

We sneak into the abandoned house the vampires are living in. The place gives me the creeps, but it's reassuring to know that I can't die.

Then I see them. Yvetsa and Theodono.

They don't look scary. They look human. I immediately feel guilty after stabbing Theodono.

I must look really depressed, be cause Will puts his arm around me.

"You'll get used to having to kill things, but just remember, they were killing people," he says.

"I know, it just doesn't feel right."

"I'd be worried if you felt okay with killing things."

"Hey," I begin. "Earlier, before we got interrupted by the god of making people's ears bleed, what were you going to say to me."

"Oh um..." He turns beet red. "I just want to say that, um I 'like like' you. And I think that you may like me too so I wanted to tell you..."

And then I kiss him.

I'm no perfect romantic guy, with my long, luscious locks flowing through the wind on the cover of a dollar store romance novel, but I knew that moment was the perfect one to kiss him. I was terrified. But I thought 'what the hell' I was already dead.

I pull away worried that he might not like me that much.

Then he kisses me.
