Bestfriend

Lauren and Camila are inseparable. They know each other like the back of their hands. Sometimes people would think that they're in a relationship because of how close they are.

They live in the same neighborhood. They went to the same school. They share the same hobbies. They think on the same wavelength. But they're not on the same page when it comes to dating.

Lauren believes that you should only date someone if you have genuine feelings for them. She believes in the kind of love that's safe and magical. Because once she gave her heart to someone, she won't hold back. She'd give her all. She loves hard.

Camila, on the other hand, believes that love is anything but safe. It'll drive you crazy. It'll drive you wild. It's like sailing the rough seas, like walking in the storm, like jumping off of a cliff. She gives her heart, piece by piece, to every guy she falls in love with.

Lauren POV

"What do you mean you're 'in love'?! You barely knew that guy!!"

This girl is something else. She can't be serious. She met that guy like 2 months ago!!

"Camila, for god's sake, stop saying you're in love to every guy that shows you an interest."

"But, Lolo..."

Here we go again. This scene has become all too familiar for me. She'll call me that nickname, that according to her, only she's allowed to use. Then she'll proceed on telling me that...

"This time it's different. He really means it when he told me that he likes me. I can feel it."

"Oh is it now? Shawn is different. Camila, last time we had this talk, you were saying the exact same thing about, what's his name? Justin?"

"...Austin."

"Austin. Whatever. And besides, he said he 'likes' you. Last time I check, that doesn't equate to love."

"Not yet. Laur, stop being so...pessimistic"

"I don't understand why you still ask me for advice when you would seriously do the exact opposite of my advice."

"Because you're my bestfriend. Your opinion matters to me, so-"

"You would do the exact opposite? Yeah, 'cause that makes total sense."

If I don't know her like I do, I would have denied that she's my bestfriend a long time ago. This girl needs a hard slap across her face to hopefully knock some sense out of her.

What if I do just that? What's stopping me? Right, because I'm not that crazy to slap her bestfriend out of nowhere.

"Camila, look I love you to death but I think you should shut down the dating department for a while. Give yourself some time. Take a breather. There are a lot of guys out there. There's no scarcity."

"But-"

"No buts, either you take my advice or-"

"Or what you're gonna leave me?"

"if you don't take my advice, I would knock some sense out of you. I'm serious."

"Wow. Use violence. Because that's what bestfriends do, right?"

Camila POV

I'd be lying if I said I didn't consider Lauren's advice. She has a point but the heart wants what it wants, right? I'll admit I'm kinda tired of getting hurt but, can you blame me for not wanting to be alone and lonely?

I spent the rest of the day thinking about that but I need to personally apologize to Lauren when I see her next time for not taking her advice, again. Tomorrow is my date with Shawn and I've made up my mind.
