Chapter 17 - The Behind Story

Min Jung's POV

"Eomma, appa, we need to talk." I sat down on the couch in the living room. The document's on the table. All I have to do now is muster the courage to ask them.

"What is it honey?" Mom sat down beside Dad on another couch.

"Tell me the truth. Everything." I took a deep breath to prepare myself for the worst. I tried to sound as calm but I am as desperate to find out my real identity.

"What do you mean.. Unless..." She paused.

"Is it really that hard to say everything out?"

"W-what..."  Before she was able to finish her words, I harshly took out the papers from the envelope off the table and slammed the papers down in front of them.

"What in the world... How did you get this information? When? Where? What.. Omg.." She clamped a hand over her mouth as she looked at me in shock.

"Why? Shocked? Now tell me everything you know. Every. Single. Thing. I need to find my parents." I emphasized every syllabus.

"I don't know where they are. They went missing ever since we found out about the news of the plane crash." 'Mom' buried her face in her palms. 'Dad' patted her back as she started to sob.

"Plane crash? Not a car accident? She said they died..." I whispered.

"Who told you all these? Because I am very sure there are some details wrong. If you want the address of your biological parents, I can give it to you." Dad sounded like he wanted me out of the house and was impatient. He wrote it down on a piece of paper and passed it to me.

"Do you really want me out of the house so badly?" I asked with tears in my eyes. I regarded them as family for 17 years. And here 'Dad' is trying to get rid of me impatiently while bribing me with my biological parent's address.

I scoffed in disbelief.

"I cannot believe my eyes and ears. Thanks for the hospitality." I got up in anger and left the house. I hailed a taxi and asked him to bring me to the said address on the piece of paper.

The moment I got there, I asked around if they knew the person who lived beside them. An old lady was kind enough to tell me.

"They had moved to America. I think it was for further treatment. I heard back then they suffered from a plane crash and it was so serious that they needed to be hospitalised in America." She said with a sad smile.

"Ahh... Thank you halmoeni." I bowed in respect.

"Eomma, appa, will we ever meet?" I sighed as I walk around the neighbourhood, exploring the place.
