Chapter 8//Jayden

We pulled up outside the boxing gym to a welcoming committee of parents and various other relatives. It was 7:35am the next morning and we we EXHAUSTED. My mom came and wrapped me in a hug. Being 6 foot tall, I had to bend down to hug her comfortably. She laughed as she felt me bend my knees.
"Good to have you back Jay."
Amira was hugging her mom, then she hugged a girl I had never seen before. I racked my brains thinking of Amira's family member's, because this girl wasn't a friend from school. She was stunning. She had Amira's clear, ivory complexion, but longer hair in a lighter brown shade. From across the car park, her bright blue eyes sparkled in the early morning rising sun. Amira, her mother Katrina and the mystery babe walked towards me and my mother. Katrina pulled my mother into a hug. They were almost as good friends as me and Amira, and my mother loved Kat.
"Hi, Tara!" Amira said, also hugging my mother (my mother loved Amira too).
I was entranced by the beauty of the other girl.
"This is Gigi, my cousin."
"Hi!" Gigi said. She made small talk with my mother, and then the three of us kids walked away to talk.
"Do you know about Romeo?" I asked Gigi.
She laughed and nodded.
"Yeah, she texted me when y'all were stuck on the motorway. It's cute yeah?"
"Yeah" I said.
"So... Do you have a girlfriend?" Gigi asked.
"Erm.. No." I said. My cheeks flushed. .
We locked eyes. She flushed too.
Amira looked at us, one eyebrow raised.
"What?" I said innocently.
"Nothing..." Amira said.
We talked until our mothers dragged us away. I got into the car with my mom and she told me about the trouble Kat and Amira had been having with a neighbor. I had a text by the time I got home. The I.D said "Amiraa💍"
"Hey b, I'm not dumb. U hav the hots for Gi. Here's her no. You can thank me later. Love ya."
She knew me so well. I texted the number with "Hi it's Jayden, Amira's friend you met earlier? I hope it's okay with her giving me you're number."
She texted back almost immediately.
"It's fine! She told me you were amazing, and I believe her😉l" she texted back.
Was she flirting?

We spoke all day, and got to know each other so well. I found out about her love of lasagne and Justin Bieber. I discovered her love of a cartoon Miraculous Ladybug. I watched an episode at her request and it was pretty amazing. I told her about boxing and even managed to make her laugh a few times. She had a great sense of humor. We bonded over our love of Amira, and joked about her being our fairy godmother. I said goodnight at 1.am.

It was the first time in a while I went to sleep smiling.
