Camille:
Abel and I walked back outside and he went to go find Ava and AJ. I went and sat back down with my mom and Tia.
"You look like you were crying." Tia said as I sat down.
I put my hand in my lap so they wouldn't notice the right away.
"I did cry, but it was 'cause he made me happy." I smiled. "I gotta show you guys something but you can't freak out."
"Okay..." They both looked confused.
I moved my hand from my lap and held it up to show them.
"Camille! Did he-"
"No, he didn't propose. It's just...a promise ring."
"No, that's way too big to be just a promise ring." Tia shook her head. "You guys are engaged."
"We're not."
"Sure." She rolled her eyes. "Watch y'all be married next week."
"Shut the hell up. Abel and I aren't even close to getting married."
"It looks like-"
She stopped talking when she saw Abel walking back over to us.
He sat next to me and my mom immediately began interrogating him.
"So Abel, what's this ring all about?"
"I just wanted to show Cami that I'm serious. It's not an engagement ring, 'cause she said she didn't wanna rush into that."
"So why get her a ring? You coulda got her a necklace."
"You're right." He laughed. "I could have, but I thought a ring would be more...sentimental."
She nodded. "I don't wanna hear about you fucking up anymore Abel, I like you and I think you're a nice guy but I'll fight you if-"
"Alright, that's enough mom."
"Okay, I'm done for now."
I knew she was just being protective but I just needed her to chill, Abel didn't really look bothered by all her questioning but I kinda was.
