Gale saw me staring at through the window.
He looked and saw her.
"We have to tell someone!" He ran off leaving me with Jesse.
Jesse sat on the seat beside the hospital bed and waited.
I put out my hand and she grabbed it gently.
We held hands until the nurses came in the get my blood pressure from my arm. They needed my right arm, the one that Jesse was holding.
Once the nurses left I held Jesse's hand again and Jones came in.
"Hey Skylar. I hope you are feeling better. I heard you saw Mau's murderer through the window. I also heard that she attempted to murder you and failed." Jones said.
"Mama can't talk for a while. It puts too much strain on her wound." Jesse said.
I looked at Jesse. My expression said thank you.
"Your welcome Mama!" Jesse said.
"Can you write?" Jones asked.
I shook my head and pointed to all the cords. Jones didn't understand.
"She can't because there is too many cords. She could pull one out by accident. I'll translate for her." Jesse said.
I nodded.
"Ok. You have a very intelligent daughter."
Jones said.
"She says: Jesse was born like that. When she was born the cord was wrapped around her neck and she almost died. Her instincts kicked in and she unravelled that cord from her neck by herself. From that day forward she has been smarter than a forty-six year old." Jesse translated.
"Is this true?" Jones asked.
I nodded.
"Yes it is." Jesse said.
"Wow!" Jones said looking shocked.
Gale ran into the room.
"She's in the hall outside." He said.
"Close and lock the door! And windows! Now!" Jones ordered.
Gale did the door while Jones did the window. They stood guard at each.
But she never came.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"It isn't a nurse. Everything has just been checked!" Jesse said.
"It's Jane! You can let me in!" A voice said.
I signalled for him to stop. That isn't Janes voice.
"Stop!  That's isn't Jane!" Jesse said but Gale was already opening the door.
The door was wide open and there in the door way is where she stood.
She put some flowers in a pot with water on the bench in my room and came and sat in the other chair beside my bed.
"I truly am sorry for what I have done. You know how I have a dark side and to get through I have to rip the charm off of my necklace? Yeah well Sarah ripped it off last time and gave it to me. I couldn't find it again to put it back on once I was home. Sarah came with me home. She was holding the charm and she handed it to me in the doorway. I don't know why I didn't put it on then and there but i walked through the door and put the charm down.
I forgot where I put it later so I couldn't change back. I get really angry in my dark side really quickly. I was playing truth or dare with Mau. She dared me to do something I didn't want to do. I ended up getting mad. I didn't want to do it but I couldn't help it! My dark side took over! I still couldn't find the charm. At the funeral you made me pretty angry and I still wasn't normal so I couldn't do anything about it. I stabbed you without wanting to. After the funeral I found Te charm and put it back on and then realised what I had done. I was a monster. I'm never changing into my dark side unless necessary again! I promise!" She said.
"Ok, Casey. I believe you! But you will still have to do the jail time. I can't control that. I only look at the dead bodies to find out how the person died and extra information." Jesse translated for me, informing Casey on her jail time status.
Casey was Mau's best friend and the murderer. Her dark side isn't living but isn't dead. It is a ghost but it isn't.
"I'll go to the trial today. It starts soon I'll have to go. See you later!" Casey said walking off.
Jones inspected the flowers and made sure there was nothing suspicious.
Finally. The killer came forward like planned.
I smiled to myself and lay back in my bed. Piece of cake!
