michael & catherine // "I think that would be called judging a book by its cover."

Catherine May Adams sat at her usual library table typing away ferociously on her laptop. Piles and piles of textbooks and papers were strewn all across the wooden surface, making not an inch of it visible. This caused no one else in the entire North Christian Academy Boarding School library to want to even remotely accompany her at the paper covered table; this was just the way Catherine liked it. After all, this was her only free period she had all day in her new senior year schedule and she was not going to let it just slip past without getting some work done. Oh no, Catherine Adams never let a solid moment at school slip without something productive being done. She knew that colleges would receive her first semester senior grades so while her two best friends decided to metaphorically "fuck it" and let them slip, Catherine took the opportunity to do what she does best: push herself a little harder.

After typing ¾ of her AP biology study guide, she slouched back in her uncomfy wooden library chair and let out a deep breathe, allowing her eyes to briefly close and relax. AP Bio was known to be the hardest class at NCA. All summer her witch of a teacher, Mrs. Saundra Winters, had been emailing them summer assignments and warned that the second Tuesday of school they would already have a test on the exciting word of Plant Cells. Catherine was not at all a science person so she took it upon herself to begin her studying endeavors for the first exam early, just like she always did.

She had gotten caught up in her brief relaxing nap until a deep unfamiliar voice interrupted her short break.

"I hope you do realize it is the second day of school."

Catherine eyes shot up and she nearly flew out of her chair. She squinted her eyes and looked to her left to see the asshole that interrupted her near slumber. Her hazel eyes met with a pair of clear, green ones. An extra tall, pale boy with unnaturally white blonde spiked up hair was staring right at her, bending down a little to look at her nearly done bio study guide. He had ripped up jeans and a just as ripped up sleeveless red plaid flannel over a black Metallica tank top. She had never seen him once before at North Christian which shocked her. After all, Catherine Adams knew everyone that walked the infamous boarding schools halls. She had to; she was student body president it was her duty to boost school spirit and lead the North Christian Knights in every way possible. So how could she do that unless she recognized every face?

"So?" Catherine shook her head at him, bringing out her naturally defensive attitude.

"How can you possibly already have this much work? And how the fuck are you already typing up a study guide what the hell is this?" the tall boy reached over pushing her aside and took his hands to the laptop and began scrolling through her seven page word document she had created in the last hour of her free period.

"Would you mind not touching that!?" Catherine grabbed his arms and used her unmatchable strength to forcibly shake them off her laptop. She quickly saved the document in an effort to make sure her last hour of precious work did not go to waste because of some stupid boy.

"Wow, you're fucking crazy."

"Says the giant boy in a Metallica shirt and cut off plaid flannel who is wondering around the library harassing girls, this isn't Venice Beach you might want to take that get up off." Catherine remarked to him directing her eyes at her computer only. She had been so caught up in being annoyed with him; she failed to notice until his last statement that he had an Australian accent. Who was this kid? She thought to herself. Does he even go here?

The boy placed his hand on his chest over his heart and let out a deep sigh.

"Whoa, that hurt. Got any other sassy, ego destroying remarks to make at me while I'm here?"
