John was a baseball playing, half-Jewish, arrogant, male.
Amy was a soccer playing, Catholic (or at least I presume), hated by a majority, female.
If you really thought about it these two were the perfect match for eachother. This entire story began one day during 5th period lunch.

"John, did you hear that Tom* likes Amy?", said one of John's mates.
John smiled cunningly. John despised Tom and he knew that getting Amy would really make Tom's blood boil.
"Now I know." John responded.
Only but a few tables back, Amy was sitting with her friends. It was convienently placed so that Amy could see John from where she sat, but was deaf to what he was saying.
Amy could only wonder if John spoke to his friends about her. Amy was only sure of one thing when it came to John. She loved him.
Her thoughts of love for John were soon interrupted when Ms. Johanneson tapped her microphone to alerting everyone that she would soon be speaking.
"John Goldberg and Thomas Richford to the main office, Goldberg and Richford to the main office immediately."
The usually lunch room chatter was replaced with a chorus of oo's and ah's.
It had been the third time this week, the feud between the two was well known. Everyone could only wonder what it was this time that caused them to be called down.
There was one person that was more worried than any other about them getting set down again. It was neither John nor Tom, but Amy, the one who cared for them both, one romantically and the other platonically, respectively of course. She knew that for either of them another suspension could mean being kicked off their team or even worse, not being able to graduate.
Letting her curiousity get the best of her, Amy left her table and asked a monitor for a pass to her locker. When she got out of the lunch room, she headed down the hallway John and Tom had just walked down. She had been heading for the main office.
Whilst Amy was struggling to find a place to listen from, John was squirming under the harsh stare of the assistant principal with Tom beside him.
John truely should have been used to the principal's tatics to break them into confession, but he hadn't.
Tom spoke first.
"Are you actually going to say something or are you just going to make us sit here? I have a burrito waiting for me in the lunch room, so can we wrap this up quickly? Pun most certainly intended."
John rolled his eyes. He had always found Tom's jokes to be... puerile.
During John's expression of annoyance, he happened to glance outside of the window and saw a flash of Amy's dirty blonde hair. From that he realized Amy was listening, and it would be the perfect time to announce to her and Tom that Tom had new competition. John was going to make him her's, no matter how much he hated the idea.

John did not end up convincing Amy that she loved him that day because she had left before he could even start.
But he did end up publicly telling her a couple days after.
*bring back the flashback music*
It was an ordinary day after-school, everyone that was lucky (or unlucky if you ran Track) enough to make their sport team was standing in the Gym for attendance. Attendance was an unorderly thing. Atheletes were mixed in with atheletes from other sports to chat, some were still in the locker room changing, and others were anxiously practicing before their first big game.
What was about to happen was known by many people in that room, except for Amy and Tom, of course.
That day was the day John was going to fake confess to Amy. And awful way to mess with the gal's feelings, but an amazing way to get back at Tom for...
whatever he did to make John so angry. When John walked out the locker room he headed straight for Amy. She was fully dressed in her lacrosse uniform, mask and all. Those who knew what was happening gathered around the two.
Amy began to feel anxious and not just from her upcoming game. Her palms were so sweaty that the lacrosse stick she held fell to the ground with a crash.
"Amy, will you go out with me?" John asked grinning, not out of love for Amy, but love for the look on Tom's face when he finds out.
"Yes John! Yes a thousand times!" She said jumping into John's arms.
The crowd that had soon formed around them was cheering on their newly found love, or at least that's what it was to everyone else.
*end of flashback music*
Soon after, when John had gotten the reaction from Tom that he had wanted, John left Amy. This left her heartbroken with no one but Tom to pick up the pieces. But luckily for Amy, Tom loved revenge.
